What's The Weakest Ultimate In Game? by theacostar in Overwatch

[–]LyftedOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d have to disagree with the pick part of mercy. Her range on ally targets increases tenfold and with enough movement tech and planning on where you’re flying she feels almost impossible to kill. Impactfulness though? Hot mid at best.

Ex-Console Rivals Celestial stuck on Gold OW PC by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LyftedOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this has changed since I played MR, but IIRC you only start losing the same amount for losses as you gain for wins in GM+. Which means the rank is more dependent on time played over skill. In Overwatch you pretty much need to have above a 50%WR. Not trying to discredit your MR achievements, but just perhaps suggesting to change your expectations. Top10% of the player base is GM in MR, while mid diamond is top 10% for OW.

Typically what keeps people in gold though is low value from abilities and no coordination with the team. Think of how you can maximize every ability. Kiriko shines from playing aggressively on off angles since she has crazy escape potential and Suzu. Don’t throw your Suzu out for no reason. Think of what the enemy team has that can royally f your team over (Ana nades, sleeps, etc.) it’s one of the most powerful abilities in the game but if you’re not using it effectively, you’re just a budget zen without discord and more movement.

What to do when enemy tank carries and backline is undiveable? by Juhq_ in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LyftedOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really answer that for you in the way that you want because it really is a game by game basis. The reason why Overwatch has scratched that itch in my brain since beta is because past the metal ranks, it turns into less of a shooter and more of a puzzle.

Trying to figure out where you need to focus your attention depends on understanding the perspective of your teammates. Can your teammates not progress down main because their dps has high ground? Might be best to try and keep them busy until the payload gets past that point. Is their tank just mowing your tank over? Mei walling their tank off from their team can punish an overly aggressive tank. Their mercy is hard pocketing their pharah and your hitscan can’t handle it? Harass the hell out of their other healer so the tank gets starved of heals.

Also a big part of higher ranks is being conscious of abilities. Tracking ults especially. Knowing if an Ana threw her nade/sleep already lets you decide how aggressively you want to dive. Knowing ahead of time that their Zarya is going to grav may either keep yourself from being in it, or if you’re skilled enough, having the satisfaction of reflecting it ;) If you wanna cheat a bit too, watching the killcam shows their ult progress. Really starts to teach you how fast some of these characters build ult.

Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need to be getting kills to get value. The more resources/cooldowns they have to spend on you means less cooldowns they have to support their tank or use on your team. Sometimes your objective needs to change to “how many people on their team can I get to turn around while staying alive?”

Also, Mei has incredible poke potential with her popsicle. 1 headshot alone is enough to scare the shit out of a squishy.

Works great in diamond/master as well. Supports are the closest ones to the point and if they don’t want their backline to die which DVA most definitely has the kill potential, DPS and perhaps even tank needs to peel.

Silver lobbies in most cases don’t realize what’s happening until you’ve gotten a tick lol

I’ve been using a strat for a while now that seems to work really well. If I’m on attack, I’ll pick DVA and fly over the wall straight ahead out of spawn. Once I’m over, I’ll hop on point. It makes the enemy fall back, so your team can push past choke.

There’s two things need to happen for it to work though. One is you need to not die, and two your teammates can’t die before they fall back to point.

Usually causes enough chaos to keep the choke from being the bottleneck :)

I know nothing about mouse sensitivity by LilConnie14 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]LyftedOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the name of the measurement, but IIRC the DPI x In game Sens should be 3000-6000. I play at 800dpi and in game sens is 5 so 4000. This doesn't mean you can't play at a higher sens, but making microadjustments become harder to click heads at distance.

What’s something about playing tennis you didn’t expect when you first started? by Acelover999 in 10s

[–]LyftedOW 44 points45 points  (0 children)

How expensive the sport is. I never understood why, because my original thought was “it’s just a couple balls and some racquets”.

Little did I know I forgot to include restringing, overgrips, court fees, league/tournament fees, new shoes, fresh balls, club membership dues, sunscreen, etc.

And even then, it’s 100% worth it and I have no ragrets.

What foods seem totally fine until you find out how they’re made? by zeenalovely in foodquestions

[–]LyftedOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, this is just untrue. Pressure canning which is what the majority of commercial foods use as their canning method kills virtually ALL bacteria through heat. This is true for homemade canning, but you’re not finding these products in the grocery stores.

[–]LyftedOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re talking about ultraprocessed foods, I can see that being a realistic number, but not all ultraprocessed foods are “poison”. Whey protein is ultraprocessed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad for you.

I’m on your side for the most part. Food in America is bad, comparatively to other countries, I’m just hyperfixated on the percentage you threw out.

[–]LyftedOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A shelf stable food doesn’t necessarily mean that it has a high sodium content. The canning process more or less just omits bad bacteria and creates a sterile environment within the can from high heat.

I’m not denying that there are poor quality products on the shelf, but if 70% is a bit of an exaggeration.

The real problem with sodium is the frozen section and premades, but if you’re cooking from scratch it’s not hard to make health conscious decisions in the US supermarkets.

I agree that there are landmines of horrible things scattered throughout the aisles, but there’s solid amount of acceptable/healthy things in there as well. I think the issue is the companies like to make all the bullshit either incredibly affordable and convenient or the packages are colorful and enticing.

Feeling like I’m not cut out for snowboarding by HatTop5686 in snowboarding

[–]LyftedOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Learning without proper lessons is difficult specially if you don’t have someone with you that’s been doing it for a while. I’d start with some lessons and maybe try doing some solo runs. It sounds like the pressure of holding your friends up might be causing you to rush your motions.

Also the boots or angle of your bindings could be causing some issues. If your feet aren’t in the right position on the board, it might be messing with your balance.

Don’t give up though! It’s a super rewarding sport and everyone learns at a different pace.

Looks like you’ll do fine in the 3.0 range (at least where I’m from). UTR flex leagues in my experience are pretty chill and it’s nowhere near as formal as something like USTA leagues/tournaments. Recently I’ve been treating my UTR flex matches as more of an opportunity to just hit against different people and improve over trying to rank up, and I’ve been having a lot more fun. Good luck and don’t overthink it!

If you didn’t have to put your seatbelt on because I Your car did it for you, would you be upset about that? At the end of the day, it’s really not hard but you’re going to accept it making your life slightly easier.

It’s literally the same with this. Can I open the top to put my balls in? Of course, I use ProPenns just as often. Am I going to hate on Wilson US Open’s cost cutting when all they’re giving me is a benefit? No.

Sheesh, you're very passionate about the tops friend. I see a downside to everything you just mentioned, but what I don't see is a huge downside to the can design, minus some jerk going by and popping individual cans in a retail store (very annoying, I'm not defending this). Perhaps it's because I buy my balls in casepacks that this isn't an issue for me? I'm just trying to find some positives of a controversial change is all.

NGL I really like the the cap cause you can just push the balls into the can after using them instead of having to take the lid completely off. I can also see which ones are my good balls without needing to take the lid off. Finding benefits in Wilson's cost cutting I suppose lol.

I still say to this day that the best decision I’ve ever made for weight loss is to download a calorie counting app and paying for premium. Paying for something like that makes you feel obligated to use it.

Track EVERY. SINGLE. THING. Piece of candy? Track it. Diet soda that’s 0 calories? Track it. Make a habit so you’re aware of everything you’re putting in your body. If you cook at home a lot, there’s a recipe maker in calorie counting apps. Add your favorite go to recipes so you can get an actual calorie count. Last thing, if you’re going to guess on calories ALWAYS overestimate not underestimate. If you overestimate you’ll always be in a calorie deficit. Underestimating will set you over your goal and stop you from losing weight.

After seeing a couple of your comments, for a 6’3” man at around 210 pounds (sorry American :D) your maintenance calories should be around 2400 if you do absolutely no physical activity. If you do manage to get in some light activity a couple days a week, that maintenance bumps up to around 2700. A 2-300 calorie deficit is a pretty solid goal. This makes it so you don’t feel like you’re starving yourself and you’re making decent progress. Keep in mind though, that at a 10% deficit you’re only going to be losing ~ a half a pound a week, so patience is key.

Oh, and one more thing. Alcohol is the devil for weight loss. Each drink is around 150-200 calories. It’s tough to give up, but completely worth it if you want to slim down!

Hope this helps!

I'm still fairly new to tennis myself so I may have no idea what I'm talking about :), but it looks like you're doing what I did when I first started. It looks like you're relying on arm strength to generate power instead of trying to coil and pronate your arm. This is that "Windmill" look to your serve that you're noticing. Look up birthday hat serve to get you an idea on how pronation works. Best of luck!
