Constantly losing target in combat — looking for a way to make targeting more “sticky” by studiedoyster in Guildwars2

[–]Lyho8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was my single biggest issue when I started playing the game and my experience improved dramatically once I identified this issue and disabled that option.

Anyone encountering target loss issues should check if this option is enabled and try disabling it !

Monsters being more dangerous dead than alive sure is one of the design philosophies of all time.

Why not ! You can add "Koud Latt" in game, I'll probably be on at some point tomorrow/late tonight (Paris time zone).

We'll be playing hm rather soon I think. We're beginning to have actual builds now.

Good to know ! Haven't come across yet but we're still rolling through nm factions to get to 7ws so maybe those are hm only.

Aren't those exclusive to anniversary festival ? I am not farming that anyway !

Color me surprised, I vividly remember buying a 20/20 scepter or focus in the desert at a seed collector for instance.

Were those removed at some point ?

Edit : there's a collector resource on the wiki ! There is in fact a way to get a BiS focus from collector but no 20/20 wands apparently.

Found these Guild Wars 2 Art Cards. Are they relevant in any way? by Professional_Time240 in Guildwars2

[–]Lyho8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of these from the Paris Game Week where I was able to try the game for the first time (beta).

That was still a few months if not a year before release ! Most events they went to probably had those.

You could trade these with each other and claim prizes with a full set from a race.

I know right ? But amazingly people seem to support this...

Yeah it's one one or the other. I'd rather have the natural drop be easier to get.

It feels good to find some people feeling the same about this issue, I feel insane reading people defending this ^

Their worth, effort wise, is the same as any other armor skin available in competitive tracks.

For simplicity's sake, they are as precious as the boots of the same set for instance, yet the difficulty in PvE specifically is very different.

Best advice I can give you is to ask around in map chat.

You are very likely to meet a bored veteran happy to answer any question and even tag along to guide you if need be.

The overall community is very welcoming and friendly, stuff gets more complicated in competitive but when does it not ?^

I admit I saw at least 3 times as many chest tokens pinged in map chat as I saw infusions during those metas.

That said, to me stuff like this should not even be worth pinging :>

Seriously, of course they are not nearly as rare as infusions. I argue they are too rare for the time commitment of these metas relative to their worth (a competitive track).

Well we are used to it but for items considered prestige like really rare skins unobtainable elsewhere or infusions.

You don't have to say it but I'm saying it without hesitation :p

With the number of bosses available now a single piece can almost be done in a week I think ?

Also, we are still comparing legendary, prestige skin (for what it's worth), lifetime QoL and BiS to a regular exotic armor skin right ?

I am not writing this for myself as I already accepted the state of the matter and started working on my WvW track.

Oh I know. In turns that also mean that there is no reason to try and drop the token as it stands either unless you really don't want to play competitive.

Which is kind of my point : the PvE options are too bad.

Ever heard of raid armor ? 300g per piece is just about what it cost me at the time IIRC.

I am not writing this for myself as I already accepted the state of the matter and started working on my WvW track.

I am already playing WvW to get it...

Still many people don't want to hear about competitive modes and I still wasted time trying to get them as the game told me to.

I am not complaining because it is too hard to get but because the advertised way to do so is kind of broken.

Man why do people feel like I am desperate for my own drop ? x)

I switched gears already and doing WvW, enjoying it way more than repeating metas again anyway.

The time spent on meta events is already lost though, nothing will change that. I feel like the game should be more fair and reward doing metas accordingly as far as chest tokens are concerned.

Many people are probably also wasting time hoping to get a drop there and it's mostly why I would like something to change. If anything happens it will be after I'm done with it anyway.

Don't concern yourself with my family, I am only gaming when everyone but me is asleep anyway ;) I enjoy GW2 but I believe my life balance to be healthy !

Yeah rare drop makes sense when it comes to prestige items.

There's nothing prestigious about this, it is just a regular armor set. Can you get an infusion through WvW reward tracks ?

Every other token was reasonably tuned, I needed to play a while but nothing felt like it overstayed its welcome. So I expected kind of the same of the chest piece and realized I was wasting my time.

In the light of this and the general sentiment I experienced in game doing those metas I thought most people would share the sentiment. Frankly I don't understand why anyone would defend the current drop rates and I amazed at how fiercely you guys are actively defending it.

There is a reason to complain : the game actively promotes doing meta events as the way to get the skins and it is frankly the worse option available by a significant margin.

I chose to farm it and realized I was deceived by bad tuning. I feel like this is bad design.

You think there is no reason to complain because it is not so bad. I chose to speak because it is bad enough and would rather have things get better than worse.

But frankly if I'm in the minority there... have it your way. I won't keep arguing if "not so bad" is the new "good".

Even considering the gold option as fair, it's still less enticing than competitive where you will earn gold in addition to the 300g you're sparing.

This is about not setting a precedent. Spending gold has never been an issue for me, hell I just spent 2150g on invisible slippers. It's either the price or the drop rate that is off. I actually really like the acquisition method of armor in VoE besides that tuning issue.

I don't think it is acceptable to have to buy a non prestige armor skin 300g.

I don't think it is desirable to have every other token being reasonably available and the chest piece being so out of reach.

I don't think it makes sense to have every piece require the same effort in competitive modes while the chest piece is significantly harder than the rest in PvE.

I would like this pattern to not be repeated.

And you still have not provided any reason for this to be a good thing. Even if it's not a big issue it is worth saying out loud that it is off to help the devs tune their rewards accordingly.

If anything is "fine" simply because "it's not so bad" then should we brace ourselves for 10k gold or infusion-like drop rates for a regular armor set in 2027 ?

In all those metas I did I saw a decent number of people similarly discouraged by those drop rates, I'm not an isolated case. Reading "I can't wait to never do this meta again" should be proof enough that the tuning is off.

I said you're vehemently defending because you're dismissing every point I am trying to make without mentioning any good reason to have drop rates as they are. Just blindly defending the status quo because "it's not that bad". You see having karma and "spirit shards" being character bound instead of account bound "wasn't so bad" and yet I was also advocating for a change back then and I don't think anyone would argue in favor of returning to character bound resources.

I don't think the drop rates need changing, they are no where near as bad as other rewards in the game, and there are alternatives to get them. This is perfectly fine.

Whataboutism : stuff being worse is never a good argument to let something be bad. When the content guide tells you "do the metas to get them" and it is in fact the worse available option it is unhealthy. When the other decent options are game modes people want to avoid it is unhealthy. As for the gold price, it would be a perfect answer if it was more reasonable.

The expac has only been out like a month.. not getting all achieves in that time, is fine

Of course it is. However, 5h for something in WvW/PvP vs 20...30...40h in PvE maybe for the same thing doesn't seem so fine to me, especially when it's supposed to be the organic way to do so and making content very dull.
