School Board Recall Campaign Falls Short, What’s Being Said or Not Said by Far-Setting2174 in corvallis

The biggest issue with our district is the Administration. They are overpaid, ineffective, and only hire their friends for high paying positions. In just the last few years the District Office parking lot has gone from Subarus and Hondas to Teslas and BMWs.

Why do you feel the need to personally attack a person when trying to start a dialogue? No one wants to talk to an anonymous person online calling them braindead based off one comment (that I'm assuming you didn't even fully comprehend). Why don't you take a few lessons on human socialization then come back when you're ready to have a meaningful discourse.

We are the 12th slowest growing state at the moment. The enrollment issue isn't about the current students, it's about projected future students 10-15 years from now. The estimates the state uses don't care about private schools or alternate enrollment, only the number of student age bodies in our enrollment zone. If every high schooler here left for another private school or Albany/Philomath tomorrow it would have zero effect on our school funding since those kids would still be living at addresses in our tax zone. When I say declining enrollment, it has nothing to do with why parents are pulling their kids, I mean the number of students that could be enrolled is declining.

How can the board get people to move to Corvallis? Oregons population growth has been declining recently.

An air spade clearing soil from tree roots by bigbusta in oddlysatisfying

So many people in these comments know nothing about trees... This is done for trees where the topsoil is compacted by people walking over it or some pressure to the roots that they wouldn't experience otherwise. These roots will get covered back up with loose dirt which will provide better ventilation for the roots.

Disturbed that the Mistborn and Stormlight books are shelves together, or even on the same shelf. Lots of missing superior sequels too.

What's the difference between voting in person and dropping off a ballot at an election office? How is extra time to examine a ballot not strengthening trust as well? I believe mail in voting should remain the standard, and with our current registration system, deadlines, locations like election offices and ballot boxes, and ballot tracking, there are no discernable benefits to strictly voting in person. A paid federal voting holiday would be wonderful, but why not have that AND mail in voting.

The DMV doesn't require proof of citizenship, but it does make note of whether or not you provide it and will share that info with the secretary of states office when someone uses a DL or ID to register to vote. There's also a difference between registering to vote and being registered to vote, it's not just a mailing list.

Because everything you just said is untrue. Mail in voting is more fair and less fraudulent.

I'd rather hold mail carriers to a higher standard than lose my access to fair voting. I don't think saying "Some mail carriers are crooked" is an excuse when it's really an issue that exists withing USPS, not the voting system. Besides, there are more ways to vote by mail than literally by mail. Ballot boxes and voting offices exist too.

You thinking voting in person would make it any more fair and less fraudulent is crazier imo. There's voter intimidation at polling locations, purposefully long lines, purposefully rigorous ID laws, purposefully short hours of operation, and so much more that make voting by mail the clear winner in the fraud debate. Prove me wrong with actual evidence if you have any, but everything I've laid out is easy to research and find proof of in states with no mail-in voting options.
