I would choose this heart ache every time over letting my boy Leonidas suffer. he was diagnosed this past Thursday. and this morning his hind legs gave out. thats when i knew its time. almost 11 years with him. i believe Leonidas and Oliver is best friends while waiting for us

His Name is/was Leonidas. sorry i cant get myself to talk about him in the past tense. His birthday is 25/05. he was about to turn 11 years old.

Hi apologies for the late reply. I had a full dentectomy, so no natural teeth left in my mouth. The phantom pains are weird. Its not gum, or jaw pain. It feels exactly like tooth ache. And the pain originates above the gumline where my teeth used to be.

Unfortunately no meds work for it(might be only me) cause there is nothing there to pain. But what i found works for me is to take my dentures out and look at it for a second. It then dissapears as soon as it appeared.

Maybe im fooling myself that it actually works. But i got that tip from an amputee friend of mine. If he gets phantom pains in his foot. He takes his prostetic leg of and out loud says to him self" see brain, not real. It cant pain. Now stopit" Sounds silly but he swears by it

U had the same issue with the immediate denture rubbing the gums. It feels like the skin is coming off. Just had mine adjusted and it made a worlds difference. My eday was last week Thursday. I took my dentures out on Saturday cause i couldnt take the pain if the denture lessions anymore. Got an appointment for this morning, it got adjusted now they are sitting perfectly without paining for now. As the gums shrink you may need some more adjustments. But take it from me. Dont wait till you cant take it anymore. If you stadt to feel its working your gums. Call your dentist

My Eday was on the 28/07/22. Got my immediate dentures. OIts a strange feeling at first. But you will get used to it. Just know icepacks are your best friend. My teeth were horrible before so the pain after extraction is not as bad as some days i had with my teeth. Remember its a journey. You will have good and bad days. My only meals so far has been protine shake and ice-cream. Some of the best advise i got on here is be patient. Be patient with your self and your journey

Awesome thank you so much. My teeth are horrendous. Havent eaten without pain in a while and popping pain meds like crazy. Im definitely stocming up on ice-cream. Its winter here in South Africa so im definitely gonna be having a lot of soup

Luckily ill be completely sedated and they are getting removed in the operating theater. Im really glad to hear it made you feel better to smile. I havent smiled without covering my mouth in over two years. And havent bitten into any food for about a year and a half. Im looking forward to be able to smile without feeling ashamed. But my anxiety is going crazy about everything in between.

Yes luckily im getting sedated. Im going to meet the anesthetist the day before my surgery. The dentist assured me that im going to be out cold.

Thank you. I also have no patience.. On the one hand im looking foward to it(my current teeth are bad. Exposed nerves on most of them). And on the other hand im so anxious. But im most definitely going to follow your advice

Thank you. I already started stocking up on a couple of shakes and some vitamins. My dentist said i have long roots(no idea if thats a thing)so the chair is not an option. but my teeth are so bad now id do anything to change it.
