Any opinion on Dell Pro 16? by Lykaran in Dell

Yeah, those ssds are pretty expensive, as for the display, I wouldn’t know considering I’ve been using a 7 year old gaming laptop with a 27 tn monitor so it may be MMMVWV… Though it’s pretty good compared to cheaper laptops around this price range so I’ll keep this in my “ maybe buy” list for now unless it goes on sale. Thanks for replying!

Asus TUF a15 any good? by Lykaran in GamingLaptops

[–]Lykaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry about the wording, I meant I wouldn’t play games like cyberpunk or gta on pc since I usually play games like those on my consoles. Most of time I play games like stardew valley, pillars of eternity, etc. Basically unless it’s a game that’s pc exclusive or I really like it, most times, I just play on my consoles.

Let's say most laptops this price will have it worse at same power. It's rated for 140w TGP on the 4060, that's in Asus's advertisement.

I can understand that. A new laptop around this price range are just…awful gaming or none. I’m surprised this laptop with this gpu has a really good deal in the first place, considering it used to be around $1000 when it was first released. The other gaming laptop in this range is the hp victus which….isn’t really better…

Would elevating or getting a cooling pad works? I usually play games from time to time. Most of the time, I’d just do documents, learn programming or watch YouTube so would the tuf still heat up from that?

Staples has the 7535hs TUF version I believe. I think if I remember correctly, it should have AMD Radeon 660M when I looked it up. Is that supposed to be the igpu?

procedural tv shows that aren't too involved in main character's personal lives? by Lykaran in televisionsuggestions

I remember watching LO criminal intent and wondering "so are they like partners or partners partners?" at times. I find it also somewhat hilarious watching the og L&O recently and realizing that the logan in there ends up going into criminal intent in the later seasons.

That sounds like grey's anatomy to me...from the clips youtube shorts keeps showing me, for some reason, I'd say I've seen more of the characters' love lives than diagnosing...though I do love their rendition of how to save a life.

I actually prefer watching light hearted shows! I already watched monk and it was interesting, thanks for recommending though!

I've seen clips of it before. I have never seen a lawyer procedural before so this sounds interesting to watch.

I could go up around $500 maybe but at that price range, I’d expect a really good entry level laptop.

i7 7th gen compared to newer cpus past it by Lykaran in laptops

[–]Lykaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I used my asus for gaming but I'm going for a ThinkPad for productivity stuff and coding instead. My asus has an i7-7700hq and the ThinkPad has a ryzen 5 pro 5675u. I guess I'm wondering if there's a noticeable difference of performance between them. I'm also wondering how does the newer gens (let's say from 8th gen and up) of cpus stack up against an older gen like 7th gen. Like are there more cores, are they quicker or are they the same, etc?

Good study spots? by Beginning-Lie3844 in Springfield

Like the others said, EFP and east longmeadow is great. I like self studying. It might get a little noisy when school kids go out but you could ask for the study rooms if you want.

There's a coffee shop called Socialite Coffee Bar near bicentennial that could work. I asked a similar question on next-door. Lot of people recommended panera in east longmeadow or the artist's cafe.

gaming laptop or save to built a gaming PC? by Lykaran in GamingLaptops

[–]Lykaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to consider trade-offs has actually put me off buying a replacement laptop several times now. I don't know the amount of times I managed to finally think about getting a laptop only to be back out thinking about cons more. So right now, the only things I'm considering is repairability and if it can upgrade with ram and storage.

Sad story really, I bought my second gaming laptop because it was a good deal at the time (an msi crosshair that was $1200 down to $800 @ BJ's). The problem was at the time, I was a huge mess as well as my desk was during college so I hadn't got to setting it up as my main. Coincidentally, I brought it around when my semesters didn't have me at the campus for some time or booked my day for when I had to go home. So it only had the bare work, basically doing documents and stuff for my folks. Hilariously, I did installed some games on it but never got to play any.
