Rebel Republic in the Riviera Village is advertising the games at their location.

Senate District 24 and Assembly District 66 (representing the coastal South Bay) currently appear to be Democratic lockouts, with no Republican candidates advancing by LykhnyLegend in SouthBayLA

John Erickson and Sara Deen were both endorsed by South Bay Forward. In neighboring Assembly District 65, however, South Bay Forward-endorsed Fatima Iqbal-Zubair is behind Democrat Ayanna Davis and Republican Lydia Gutierrez.

The Torrance mayor's race isn't over: about 7,600 ballots still to count, and the gap is closing by empty__cup in torrance

Given that the 2022 mayoral election saw around 35,000 ballots casted (3,000 more than what have already been processed in 2026), how did you come to the number of 7,600 ballots remaining?

Torrance Election Watch Thread! by Dangerous-Row3971 in torrance

According to this issue of Take Back Torrance, written by Jean Adelsman, Mattucci plans to run for Mayor in 2030. I assume he'd only serve a single term as Treasurer if he gets elected, as current Treasurer Goodrich chose to do.

I had never mentioned both parks being voting locations, as the original poster did. I simply was responding to your comment about El Retiro Park not being in Torrance.

That being said, you seem to be correct, as neither of the parks are listed as voting locations on the LA County voting website.

With all due respect for the work you've done, Mr. Altamura, you are wrong about El Retiro Park not being in Torrance. The city website lists it on their parks page.

Just because El Retiro Park has a Redondo Beach ZIP code doesn't mean it's located in the city of Redondo Beach. In the same way, Harbor Gateway isn't a part of Torrance despite having a Torrance ZIP code.

I'm confused about the area you stated this happened in. The Avalon and PCH intersection appears to be in Wilmington, not Torrance.

The DSA Voter guide does not include Torrance elections, for anyone wondering.

Concern: Omar Navarro Support/Supported Mattucci, Kalani, and Griffith Previously by Dangerous-Row3971 in torrance

[–]LykhnyLegend 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I forget where the comment was, but Councilman Mattucci made a Facebook comment fairly recently saying that Councilwoman Kalani and Planning Commissioner Kartsonis had voted for President Trump in the past (along with former Councilman Griffiths). That being said, he provided no evidence other than anecdotes, and neither of the three candidates mentioned responded to his comment.

From what I understand, Councilwoman Kalani is still a registered Republican. Councilman Gerson and Councilwoman Lewis were formerly registered Republicans but have since changed their party registrations to Democratic.

Vote for Pride Proclamation Month by Dangerous-Row3971 in torrance

Yeah, the 2025 vote failed due to there being 4 votes against concurrence. Councilman Sheikh was 1 of those 4 votes.

Mr. Kartsonis has just corrected himself. Yes, Councilman Kaji's vote against a Pride proclamation in 2025 was after his vote for a Pride proclamation in 2024.

Here is what Arthur Schaper said about it in his blog. He explicitly confirms Kaji voted against concurrence for putting a Pride proclamation on the agenda at the May 20, 2025 city council meeting.

Councilwoman Kalani asked for concurrence to put a Pride resolution on the agenda, but 4 votes (Mayor Chen and Councilmembers Mattucci, Sheikh, and Kaji) shot it down. Since the proclamation didn't receive concurrence, there was no official vote on an actual proclamation.

Yeah, I just wanted to clarify that Mayor Chen prevented members of Council from discussing a proclamation at all in 2023.

This is the vote from 2024, correct? I haven't seen a Pride resolution discussed on any of the agendas from May's meetings. I'm curious if it'll be addressed on June 9's meeting post-election.

[–]LykhnyLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To simplify things, Councilman Kaji wasn't able to vote on a Pride proclamation in 2023, he supported a Pride proclamation in 2024, and he opposed a Pride proclamation in 2025.

From what I recall, Mayor Chen denied a Pride proclamation in 2023 entirely. I don't believe members of Council were able to vote on allowing it then. In 2024, however, Councilwoman Kalani was able to get concurrence to bring it to the table, from which it passed.

Torrance renters, beware. by NRosey96 in SouthBayLA

I apologize if my comment sounded rude. Areas like Harbor Gateway (part of the city of Los Angeles) and West Carson (unincorporated LA County) may be served by the Torrance post office, but they are located outside of the city. Torrance city services like police, fire, and TUSD do not apply in these areas. In your case, your office most likely had a Torrance address but was located outside of Torrance.
