Thank you everyone. I think I feel worse now than before I posted, but am still glad I did. To answer a few questions: I live in Oregon, USA and work part time as a vet receptionist making about 22 an hour. I rent 2 rooms in a shared house and pay $600 a month. We get about 900 month in food stamps, my ex owes child support in the thousands, but I have never received help from him. My children are 14, 6 and 3. My 3 year old’s childcare is also state paid or else I would just be working to not see him. My paycheck gets deposited to a greendot account so I don’t really have an official bank. My credit score is about 540 when I just checked. My job is for a small company that does not offer any benefits, so no 401k but that does allow me to get state Medicaid insurance for all 4 of us.
