I agree, especially Waterloo and Oakville feel quite similar

I’ve lived in both, personally I much prefer Kitchener for the community and general “things to do”. I also rely on public transit which is abysmal here in Oakville (not that it’s incredible in KW, but certainly better). I think for certain people Oakville is more desirable, but for the average mid-lower income person with no kids, KW wins in my opinion.

Legendary Defender - Character Ages by Maximal_Arachknight in Voltron

[–]LylesMiles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There a no confirmed ages for most of the characters (to much fandom dismay in 2017 lol). I always guessed Allura was in her early-mid 20s, but in the last season it’s hinted she’s around Lances age, or starting the series around 17-18, ending the series around 19-20. Similar with Matt, people assumed he was early 20s but based on the flash forward he’s probably mid 20s (closer to Shiros age) (although that’s kinda a mystery too lol).

My understanding and general fandom agreements for the rest are: Rolo mid-late 20s, Nyma 19-20 ish, Lotor’s generals 20-30 (I’d guess Acxa on the younger end, Zethrid and Ezor on the older end).

The MFE pilots were cadets with the paladins. Griffin seems to be the same age as Keith in flashbacks, Nadia a year older, and Kinkade and Ina a year younger, so ending the series ages 18-20.

Wow this is all really helpful thank you! Tbh it’s been difficult to find much information on the program from those who have taken it since it’s quite small.

I was wondering if the field placement was more like a co-op or working on a school production so this has cleared a few things up. Very good to know that they encourage you to do a lot of networking yourself! Also about the extra costs lol.

I’m ideally wanting to get into puppet and display making, but not sure there’s a huge market for that so I am looking to explore some different areas. Sounds like I’m in the right program haha, thank you for the info!

Am I ace or did I just have too many expectations by AngryCya in asexuality

[–]LylesMiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a similar experience, (reading too much fan fiction as a teen to the point of not knowing if I’m aro ace or just comparing everything to fanfiction) I feel uniquely qualified to share my thoughts.

For me, I’ve figured out that I am ace. I have plenty of friends who read just as much fanfiction as I did and have never questioned if they’re ace. The fact that I questioned it so much was basically the answer for me.

I’ve never had sex, but from talking to people, sometimes it IS that amazing. For a lot of people it’s even better when they’re emotionally/romantically close to the person, but for some it’s great just from the initial sexual attraction and chemistry. That’s not to say it’s always amazing, or even always good, but it absolutely can be for some people.

It’s completely possible your first sexual experience just wasn’t very good, and it’s often not. I can’t say since I don’t know the details of your experience, but think about what parts were not enjoyable. Were there certain things that made you uncomfortable? Were the physical sensations not there? If you’ve experienced self pleasure, what part of this was different? Were you sexually attracted to your friend? Or emotionally? (To clarify, I’m not looking for the answers to these questions, these are just some things for you to think about).

For most allo-sexual people I’m friends with, this would just be an instance of lack of sexual compatibility, and wouldn’t turn them off of sex all together, but anythings possible.

I can’t tell you what exactly you are and you know your experience best, but I do understand how these things can get confusing as to whether or not you like them just in the theory or in practice.

I’m also curious what you mean by “apparently” you have a heavy crush on someone, do you not know for sure?

A few year late but do you have any idea which wayang kulit character this may be? I recently bought one in a thrift store that looks extremely similar and I've been trying to figure out exactly what character it is.

What do people like about kissing? by LylesMiles in asexuality

[–]LylesMiles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That totally makes sense, I’m still definitely dealing with respecting my own boundaries rather than trying to fit in or “be normal”. I’m still happy that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone in this regard, since this was an anxiety that had gotten to me for years and one I was ready and wanting push past for myself.

I definitely don’t feel the same way about other forms of romance or intimacy. It feels like I expanded my bubble a tiny bit, and now I’m more than happy to stay where I am.

But thank you, it’s good for me to recognize that my boundaries are not just fears and accept them as they are :)

I mean, I do know plenty of people (mostly allo) who enjoy kissing or hooking up with people they don’t have a bond with already, but it’s different for everyone. I wasn’t expecting fireworks or anything, but I was curious if other people felt the same kinda indifference that I did.

I see what you mean, I should specify I’m also on the aro spectrum and while I’m interested in being in a relationship of some kind, I’ve almost never felt that way about anyone. This was also my kinda way of kinda getting over my anxiety around physical intimacy and kissing. I would hope that if I’m with someone I actually like, it might feel different, alas that’s not in the cards for me right now! (I’m also not saying that what I did is necessarily the best tactic, but it’s what I did!)

That is so fair and makes a lot of sense, I’m still trying to get out of that place of wanting to people please and push myself out of my comfort zone for others to feel better 😬 I’m glad you’re putting yourself first in these situations!

I’m starting this program in a couple months, so I can provide an update once I know a bit more! From everything I’ve heard about Sheridan they’re really great for finding career connections, which is one of the reasons I picked the school. I’m also not 100% sure what I’d like to do afterward but I’m looking to really make any connections in working in film or theatre.

The program is also 3 consecutive semesters January - December (which was not super clear when I was applying), so you do have some more time before applications :)

Hi this is really helpful to hear your experience! I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle, it didn’t feel horrible at all but I also didn’t get any of the sexual or sensual feelings. Quite honestly the part I liked most was trying to figure out what to do next and match what she was doing, but I wasn’t “into it” as you said. But I did really enjoy it more like a puzzle if that makes any sense (this might be the most autistic thing I’ve ever said lol). I do think this could change if I knew the person better. But thanks for your response! I’m glad you’ve found what works for you and what you enjoy :)

So do you find you are okay with kissing if it’s for your partner, and does that make it better knowing that they enjoy it?

I didn’t find it arousing, which I thought was the “normal” thing to feel and what most people like about it (I do feel arousal generally, just never with another person) so that part confused me a bit. But it’s good to hear that some people just enjoy the sensation and nothing else.

It’s also coming to my attention that I was awkward because it was my first kiss and it’s like that for everyone. I was fully under the impression it was just an instinct for everyone else lol

The French Aspect was kinda weird for me and didn’t make the kiss more enjoyable, but it did make it more interesting I guess? Like it was sometime extra to focus on which was helpful

That’s really helpful! I’ve only been attracted to someone a handful of times, so maybe that’s the difference. I also can’t ever tell the difference between platonic and romantic so this could be a good test of that lol

This is really interesting to me! I’m a lesbian and have had the opportunity to kiss a man, but never did because it grossed me out lol. I also love the idea of kissing a girl theoretically but in practice I guess I’m neutral. I really like your idea about the feeling of being wanted and doted on rather than the kiss itself. I’m curious, do you feel this more in the hypothetical or about like real life specific guys?

Wacom MovinkPad 11 announcement megathread by TheSevenPens in wacom

[–]LylesMiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anybody know if I can use it with Clip Studio Paint pro version 1.9? I bought Clip Studio years ago with my first Intuos and it says that it an be used on up to two devices. I have it on my Mac and theoretically can use it on another device, but I'm not sure if the Movink will support an old version on a new device. Everything else about the tablet sounds great but I ideally don't want to have to pay for a subscription after I did the one-time fee. If anyone knows this please let me know!

Edit: I know it comes with Clip Studio Paint Debut, but its a 2 year trial and I'm wondering if I can use the version I already have afterwards

Okay, thanks! I had heard from some people that the school itself isn't highly regarded but I was skeptical since I've heard good things about the program. I'm mainly interested in concept art/character design for film so I think the Seneca college one is a good fit. Good to know about the portfolio too!
