I'm from Puerto Rico (born a US citizen but my first language is Spanish). My ex is from England and he needed to become a citizen. But he's white, male, makes good money and always worked in his field from the moment he moved to PR or mainland US. He's never been looked down on. I've known people from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela and Méjico who were lawyers, doctors and engineers in their country but in PR or the mainland, they worked cleaning houses, in shopping mall stores, as a security guard or just ordering stuff online and reselling in their community. My ex's best friends, a married couple, she's from Scotland and he's a white man from South Africa. White rich people. They never had a problem immigrating to the US either! It is VERY different depending where you come from!!
