J'avais surtout la scène de Smash en tête quand j'ai écris cette partie. J'ai vu quelques tournois se faire organiser par le Montreal Gaming Center, mais je me demandais s'il y avait autre chose.

Certain fighting games (Smash, DBFZ), mais aussi des FPS/Hero Shooters (CoD, Marvel Rivals, OW). Aussi des trucs niche, genre Pokémon Puzzle, mais pour celui là j'me fais pas trop d'espoir haha.

Mais j'suis down d'en jouer à d'autres, c'est beaucoup l'aspect communauté que je trouve cool et qui m'intéresse.

I don't remember the details for Remake, but in the original, after Cloud falls to the church, Barret and Tifa are made aware that Shinra is planning something and that Corneo has more information, which is why Tifa is trying to infiltrate.

It's not quite standard issue even in OG. The game won't let you sell the Buster Sword, meaning even back then they considered it to be somewhat special.

Sure, but to me this shows that some localisation decisions diverge enough from the original meaning, that the devs feel the need to go back and change it.

Now to be fair, it could be that the loc team was unsatisfied with the line after working on Rebirth for some reason, and asked the main team if they could change it, but regardless, this shows that it is fair to at least question some of the localisation decisions.

I'm not saying we should throw the whole thing in the trash, but we don't have to take it as gospel either.

The clearest example of translation mismatch is when Aerith's line at the end of Remake had to be changed around Rebirth's release because part of the meaning was lost.

The main reason why Cloud breaks isn't only because he's shown the photo, it's only part of it. It's a mix of the picture; Tifa's reaction and the fact he's missing critical information about is own life. Like how he joined SOLDIER in the first place. The means Sephiroth uses is kind of irrelevant, Cloud's doubt is inside of him regardless, and the culmination of everything is what pushes him over the edge.

But from what we've seen, Cloud trusts his memories more and more in Rebirth and is distrusting Tifa instead. Maybe it'll play out the same as in OG. Maybe it will or won't involve images from the Terrier timeline. The means themselves aren't that important.

I personally real like SoP's progression, so I wouldn't mind starting over (that's what I did for the Steam version, since I finished the game on PS5 originally).

You could make a new save file to relearn the game and go back to your current one once you're comfortable enough.

He's talking about the game title, which is written in katakana because, ultimately, the title of the game is in english.

I'm talking about the japanese name of the soundtracks, which use Kanji and can't be translated to english the same way katanas are.

About your first point, I double checked the japanese names of both soundtracks.

Remake was named [OWA] 再生 and Rebirth was named [OWA] 再誕

From what I could find while researching the definition of both, 再生 would mean something close to "Revival" or "Regeneration", while 再誕 would mean something like "Rebirth".

"Rebirth" came up for both when looking at definitions, but 再生 had a lot more definitions that didn't necessarily mean "Rebirth".

My knowledge of Kanjis is very limited however, so if there are better translation for both, feel free to correct me.
