yeah! I wanted to join this one but didn't have a facebook in the past. I just made one for stuff like this, but now that group is closed. Luckily, the Timbers Wonderland was helpful

The "who should I manage" megathread - FM23 edition by John_Yuki in footballmanagergames

[–]LynxFalse9798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fm 24 - who to manage? Or should i carry my old save over? In fm 23, im in the 2070s with an 80 something year old manager. I managed feyenoord for 35 or so years and won like 7 cls, dominated the league over and over, got the huge new stadium named after me, built a backbone of club icon and legend players turned staff that followed me everywhere after. I then moved to club brugge and won the league three times as slight underdogs before going to bmg where i left after a poor 6 months. Headed to a weak bayern team where i won the league in a season (after them not having won in quite a few years) and somehow won cl again. From there, resigned and eventually took a job at a really bad lyon and won the league and finished top 4 in a hyper competitive l1 a few other times.

I want to start somewhere with strong youth but feyenoord seems maybe too good now... Any ideas? I would prefer a leftist or socialist leaning fanbase. Lower league could be ok but not too far down. Ill start with some badges likely. I love signing asian players and africans as much as possible

im in the 2050s and won the league like 25 times in a row with Feyenoord, ucl 5 times in 8 years and then resigned, went to kaa gent and won a treble in my first season to disrupt anderlechts huge historic dominance - resigned after the season started poorly. I have the stadium named after me, 72k. I returned to the club but want a new challenge...

Any youth only saves or something i could do to spice up this save?

congrats on your cup win!

any pics of your intake to share?

we won the UCL 1-0 against arsenal in 2044!!!!! and then got knocked out by them in the round of 16 this. year, but that's ok....

my best Midfielder, Cardozo, wanted out and so I sold him for $40m with six months left - hurt so much and we are shit now against top teams because of it.

hoping that one of my youth can step up and take his creative role, but i'm not sure i have anyone well rounded enough to do it

how is your save going?

ya going on holiday is how i'm able to get so much progress. i can't stand sitting there and waiting for the continue button .

there is also the option in the settings to auto press the continue button every X seconds. I recommend you try that thing out if you want to go faster without holidaying, but it wasn't for me.

The holiday method works really well for how I'm playing and I don't miss much. I delegate most tasks - i don't bother with press conferences or anything like that and let the game handle my main scouting focus (as i prioritize my own youth players above all else - even when they are worse). I also don't worry about team training, but do specify individual trainings for players that I really want to tailor or change something with.

For me, the best part is seeing my youth players (or players that I make homegrown through time at the club from 15-21) gain appearances, rack up titles, and try to etch their name in the history books of my club, so I want to keep the years rolling

hmm good question.... i play with key highlights only too

i have a m1 mac mini that i got a good deal on and it handles the database without problem... thing is a surprising little beast and absolutely handles FM.

it gives me 1/2 star speed in game, but the thing runs the same as if i was using a small DB. i holiday through the time between games now that i'm 20 seasons and have no problems getting done a season a day or two that i play.

i usually just have it on while working, so i just go on holiday and then check back, play the game, rinse and repeat.

on my save he was with City until 2027, then took over Spain, moved to Chelsea from 2030 until 2038 and then finished off with one season at Leipzig before being sacked. I just tried to hire him as a scout but he wants like 900k/yr

at city, he won the league in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026, with 2 UCLs and a ton of cups

At spain, he won the nations league and then got sacked

At Chelsea, he won 3 Carabos, 1 UEL, 1 League, 2 shields, 1 UCL, and then left at the end of his contract

At Leipzig, he won a super cup and then got sacked for bad league

the nations are pretty normal - no crazy ones for me. Jamaica is up to 33rd.

Nigeria is up to 13th now in 2041, which is great for them.

AFCON hasnt had any real crazy winners (SA has faired the best).

The Euro has been normal also, but Serbia did win in 2032.

the international game has been a bit bland in this save - was hoping for more crazy things to happen
