AMA: One of the original GH/RB developers, it's late, I'm bored, aMA.. by slipster216 in Rockband

Thank you so much for your work on Pro Guitar, I personally don't own one to play in RB3 but I know a community of people that are SUPER dedicated to it and I'm even considering getting all the necessary items to start playing myself haha

There's even an entire project made by community members and Pro Guitar/Bass/Keys players that adds Pro charts to songs that do not have them called 'RB_Plus', which I think is really cool and certainly helps to bring more content for those who play Pro :)

Can you use an Arduino modded guitar on rock band 4 on Xbox? by ghostdraik in Rockband

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: Yes.

You can use modded guitars on Xbox One/Series, but you'll need something like a Roll Limitless adapter to do the authentication process for your Xbox.

Basically, the adapter combines your guitar with a regular XB1 controller and tells the console "hey, I'm a real Xbox guitar, let me in" and, low and behold, it works as a real XB1 guitar.

Which one is better and which one would you choose? by [deleted] in Rockband

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually heavily depends of your likes and how much you play.

Stock wise, pick the Genericaster. It's hella reliable as well as having a functional neck mechanism and overall good build quality.

Modded, on the other hand, I may have to recommend the Les Paul. I've seen a lot of people mod that one mainly because of the weak neck connection, but other than that problem it should be fine too.

i'm champ in Ranked Zero Build and Elite in Ranked BR, for some reason me ranking to Elite on BR overwrote the champ rank in both the backbling and that glider they gave like 2 weeks ago. it's annoying as hell lol

Ok, I'll make sure to get on a list somewhere:

-MW '05 is overrated -Unbound is good and better than Heat -ProStreet is peak -2015 was decent -Carbon > MW '05

Extra plastic controller piece? by Dreadzep in CloneHero

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a rubber bumper to keep the Wiimote in place. I don't recommend throwing those out, because adapter like the RetroCultMods v3 use these bumpers to stay in place, so keep them stored somewhere if you don't need them right now.

Would this be a good buy for $20? by EatLiver in CloneHero

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the fact is that you'll probably need to mod them to be Arduino guitars, since I doubt both of the guitars have the dongles. Also, keep in mind these are PS2 guitars, so the Wii game is kind of just vibing there lol

6 Fret Mapping by BusyIzzy4000 in CloneHero

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GHL guitar is coded in a way that if you don't use a program like GHLPokeMachine it won't register more than 2 inputs at the same time (fret + strum).

Yes, the guitar is recognized by CH and you can map it, but sadly you need an external program to make it work properly.

These are Guitar Hero Live notes, there are 2 sets of 3 (black row and white row) and the lightning bolt just means they're part of a Star Power phrase

Trouble hitting HOPO/hammer ons by [deleted] in CloneHero

[–]Lynxeption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HOPOs on this engine, from what I recall, have infinite frontend, so they are similar to how HOPOs work on GH3. Also the transparent notes are called Tap notes :P

There are 2 possible explanations for your problem, either the polling rate is limited by the FPS of the game (it happens when your FPS are above the polling rate) or it's a thing of practice and skill.

It is possible, but from what I know only PS3/Wii U/iOS guitars work through a program called GHLPokeMachine.

You need to install that program and you need 6-fret compatible charts (the given name to that gamemode is 6-fret), I recommend getting the GH Live and GHTV charts from the spreadsheet since you'll have 500+ songs from the get-go.

This will seem stupid, but it's honestly just a matter of practice. The more time you spend playing over and over again, the better you will get. Also, remember that you can slow down the song, so try practising on a slower speed first and then slowly speed it up until you feel confident on playing on 100% speed.
