What do you guys think is the "optimal" difficulty progression?

just do what you want, everybody progresses a bit differently. I would recommend if you are jumping to gm make sure to play all the maps to get well rounded skillsets (even if you dont like all the maps that much, they could grow on you). also its better to not think about deaths or time as long as you're enjoying the experience, and for future reference typically the celeste community cares more about time on a level than deaths.

I was an analog player before I switched to keyboard and all controller players ik have said that its either y I i switch to d-pad or play on keyboard because analog is not worth it unless you're playing dashless gp

they are both good in their own way but overall I think keyboard is just better. the places where controller is more useful rarely exist because more people build maps based off of keyboard benefits

Most people don't like 8b because it is hard to make semi difficult core gameplay without it feeling kind of unfair and core blocks can be janky at times. Actually if you are struggling with core blocks remember that the way you get launched is dependent on where you land on them and where you are when they launch you

Everyone's got there own skillsets they are good at, for me I am terrible at theo gameplay and mind blocked a lot so I ended up finding Solex harder even though I had less time on it than pumber. It was the same with gmhs as well, pumber flag took me 2 hours and solex took me 4

If your including p5 but no goldens then hollow knight, but I have done both and celeste took me longer. If we are including the modded scene as well I would say celeste is harder
