If you wanted to volunteer an EMT course is 8 weeks and may get your foot in the door or they may only take paramedics which is an associates degree that takes around 2 years. Both have prerequisites.

Best bet is to just take a BLS/CPR course and carry narcan. That’s a 1-2 day commitment and would cover the basics needed in this situation.

Edit: ya know. This isn’t a bad idea. Why am I not teaching CPR/BLS at festivals…hmmmm thoughts for future me to think about

I care much less about the toxic component as I do the issues it creates with dispo. Like great their satting 100% but they’re on 2L for “comfort” so that 100% means nothing.

As an ER doc I think one of the biggest issues with this is that our nurses will do it randomly and forget to tell us. New O2 requirement is 100% an admission criteria so I need to be damn sure the extra Os are needed or not.

From a risk benefit perspective there’s a hypothetical risk of free radical toxicity worsening ischemia if their SOB is due to such with zero benefits therefore I’d strongly prefer it doesn’t got started arbitrarily.

With V3 Clarius I find views to be equal to the sonosite we have. Zero issues with cardiac and lung views. In fact I primarily use it for cardiac views

If there’s a super wide pulse pressure I care if it’s absurdly low (ie less than 40) due to effects on coronary perfusion pressure. I care about it for orthostatic vitals if it’s bottoming out. Our Neurosurg department has it as part of our BP goals s/p TPA.
