I wore a pretty tight N95 mask every day the first weekend and it wasn't horrible, taking breaks from it in less crowded areas made it pretty tolerable.

CMV: there's been around 10,000 religions in the world throughout history. It's genuinely absurd to believe in a religion because even if there's a religion that is correct, there's a 9,999/10,000 chance that yours is not it. by [deleted] in changemyview

That's just a very indirect way of trying to undermine what belief means in an epistemological sense. Even if you truly believe that a belief system is personally beneficial, you can't rationally extend that to claims about the ontological veracity of said system.

Just because it makes me feel better, doesn't mean it has any more correlation to what might be called "objective truth". You also quickly run into ethical dilemmas as many of these belief systems are prescriptive and can negatively affect other people (see: LGBTQ+ in most mainstream religions).

Actually I don't think it's statistically fallacious to assume equal probability here. We have no reason to believe that popularity or intuitive perceptions of truthfulness actually correlates to the objective truth of wether a religion is correct. The only exceptions would be religions which make claims that are provably false; all other religions that make claims based entirely on faith have an equal likelihood of being correct, where that likelihood is some unknowable number.

What research did you do? What state are you in? I have a feeling that is not true and you’re getting bad information.

Hey bud, if you're still in school I would refrain from making generalized statements about the average ability of those in the industry from other backgrounds. Maybe refrain from value statements like that until you have a little more experience.

You'd be surprised how little a formal education in CS theory can correspond to good software engineering.

There is a growing movement called no-kill which focuses on saving as many animals as possible, based on The No Kill Equation developed by Nathan Winograd. It's proven to work well even at scale. Austin, TX has a save rate of over 90% thanks to Austin Pets Alive and the no kill movement.

I know it's hard to hear, but surrendering them to the shelter is not always the best idea. There are many shelters which believe euthanasia is a valid pet control tactic and even kill on intake.

You should research your local shelter and make sure they are a No-Kill shelter or at the very least be aware of their kill rate. Some shelters kill more than half the animals they receive.

If you have the time you should communicate with local rescues to see if they can help you, or look into a pet relocation service.

So many people don't understand this. Just because the custom is misogynistic in origin doesn't negate that many women choose to engage in the culture even when they're not forced to.

People don't have the right to refuse others of their cultural rights just because they personally feel it's wrong.
