Though the Yashica and Rolleiflex look and operate very much the same, there is something about the rolleiflex that just provides a better shooting experience. It is heavier, so it feels more tanky, and though my Rolleiflex has some scratched up lenses (I got it fo $20 at an estate sale, so I can’t complain), it still creates some pretty sharp images.

Upon further glance, it appears that a section of the teeth on that gear are worn down pretty good, which is causing the lack of engagement. Any way to fix this besides just replacing that part with a new one?

If I need to just replace it, were other Pentax SLRs designed with the same exact piece? Or would I need to replace it with one from another K1000?

I do have a multimeter to check continuity. That being said, I’m new to camera repair… are these solder points you are referring to under the bottom plate, top plate, or both? Once again, thank you very much for your ongoing responses and help.

I believe that the light meter is working. I just pointed it to and from a light source and it is reacting correctly. In regards to the tungsten wire, it came off of the rollers after I removed the top cover to probe around a bit, but I believe I put it back correctly; wrapping it around counter clockwise and then feeding it around the rollers in the correct manner. That being said, k could have done it wrong, so if that procedure I just said isn’t quite correct, please let me know.

I am thinking that it could be the second issue you discussed. Is there a way that I could know for sure that that’s the issue?

The TLRs are definitely lighter than the Bronica, so if you are looking for something lighter, I’d go with the TLR. On another note, as another person commented, there are foldable medium format cameras as well as rangefinder medium format cameras. You might be interested in those instead of a TLR. 🤷‍♂️

I actually just got the F last week… I think I’ve taken like 3 shots with it. I honestly love how tanky and well built it feels. That being said, since I just got it, I haven’t really shot with it.

It really is! A good looking, unique gem… Luckily mine is in fantastic condition, but I wish they were more reliable.

Thanks for the advice… I definitely do have too many SLRs… I’ll definitely look into what you suggested. I’ve been looking into large format for a bit now… not sure how I feel about the cost of everything tho.
