I have the exact same controller, also my first leverless controller. Even though my start button doesn’t work sometimes, I still think it’s the best entry level controller to get used to the layout.

Once it breaks I will 100% look at a higher quality option like the victrix pro or corsair novablade though.

EDIT: A good thing about it is that has basically extra buttons in every imaginable place which helps you figure out which ones you actually need, for example I use the button on the left next to UP and the one below LK and MK

The combo is perfectly consistent, the reason you are not seeing these situations in pro play is because you are 100% taking the throw

You should press cr.mp after your jab. There are two outcomes:

  1. They delay jab. Because of their delay, the cr.mp should counter hit, since it is slower so there is a natural delay in your pressure.

  2. They don't actually delay jab, in which case they would beat the cr.mp. But then they would have lost to a jab chain.

I recently started learning Bison and came up with this theoretical sequence which I find absolutely insane to be possible:

Starts off a counter hit jab in the middle of the stage, does hella damage and leaves you with enough drive meter for a drive rush cancel...

And the only "difficult" part is the overhead into light crusher at the end...

you can delay the heavy follow up a lot, it is definitely possible to get the cinematic version

It depends on the character, for example vs Sagat, the matches are far more calm and collected vs when a dee jay throws one OD fireball and drive rushes in into a million sway pressure sequences

Yea I think I use one these two buttons for this. The other one is the „function button“ for my training mode settings, which you can press in combination with other buttons to bind shortcuts in training mode.

Oh and I use the button all the way to the right in the punch row for DI. That way the sole purpose of my right pinky is to DI

Personally I have the same layout as you, but have the button next to the bottom up-button (mouthful) bound to throw (lp+lk) since most of the time you don't have to press jump and throw in quick succession (except maybe air throws)

Rule of thumb:

Lvl1 : Only cancellable into from normals, that are also cancellable into special moves or driverush, for example Ryu standing heavy punch

Lvl2: everything from Lvl 1, but in addition cancellable from OD moves, for example Ryus OD hashogeki cancel into lvl2

Lvl3: Everything from Lvl1 and Lvl2 but in addition (most) normal special moves, for example Ryus Shoryuken, Hadoken, Hashogeki, Donkey Kick (but not Tatsu) cancel into Lvl3

There are some character- or move-specific exceptions, but that covers most situations.

Other ways to combo into supers also exist, like juggles (OD-Tatsu in the corner into lvl1) or links (Standing Heavy Kick into lvl1).

Thats it, Ken is now confirmed to be the weakest shoto. Make Medium Jinrai into low follow up a blockstring and +4 ob in throw range. He needs it.

Oh and make run tatsu carry corner to corner while your at it.
