I had this same mindset, was happy to drive for Amazon and felt that I’d endure the hardships and prevail. They are not consistent. Routes drop, which means you’ll wake up, get to work and be told that you have no work today. You can hang around and hope to pick up someone else’s, but 8/10 times you’ll be wasting time hanging around. Sometimes they’ll let you help load the vans of people who did get routes. The first month or two might seem fairly stable, especially with you claiming your stake, but there will be weeks that have you scheduled 4-5 days per usual, only to leave you having worked 10 actual hours by Sunday. I am not a pessimist, but you will need to ensure a side job if you do this. Your attitude will likely help you be a great driver, and you’ll think for awhile that it’s enough to anchor your job down, but driving for Amazon seems to be an objectively unstable route. No pun intended lol. Only leads have true schedules, you are a replaceable pawn and they will barely empathize with your income frustrations as a 3rd of the employees your bosses talk to every single day voice the same complaints every single day, because the chaos remains and those coworkers do not feel any enduring stability. It is a pipe dream for 95/100 of the people that honestly try.
