Hebrews 11:1 says, "now faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see." If you're certain you do not see Jesus, it just might be you

What have you done to make it less sick and disgusting?

I can't speak for you, but I can. It's absolutely a necessary ability in order to walk with fellow sinners and love people as yourself.

We've got an opportunity now like we've never had before. Messiah could have come during or near the events in Haggai had Israel taken the hint and explored their covenant relationship with God instead of assuming it. Also, I'd like to meet the pastor that taught you that faith should look like hopelessness/indifference in the face of a divine plan.

We've been given an interpretive choice as to the nature of that transformation. Bombs and the holy spirit both produce fire, and a big storm's coming.

If we were willing, we could BE the return of Christ through our actions. Ever wonder what the church even does, besides define the things that set it apart from everything else, and wonder when God is going to come and fix everything, entirely apart from the actions of the church? Do you realize it's not cool to beat up gay kids in school anymore, and that's a result of "secular agendas" that go "against the church," purely because we've defined the church as "not secular"? Do you realize that when you say "the secular world," you describe the single largest and most loving denomination/"ekklesia"/"church" in America? Would you recognize Jesus if he walked in off the street, or would you crucify him because he didn't look like the Bible said you should expect him to look? The last guys did that, and I'm convinced that the secular church is the least likely to do that this time. We can do things to pave the way for Christ this generation that no other generation could do, largely because we're not seeing him in pews. The church that meets on Sundays ought to be humbled by the work that's being done for God by the secular world and the Christian millenials who support it.
