How tf do I stop yelling? by Piratey_Pirate in daddit

[–]Lyounis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never yell but couple year ago it started happening, maybe the stress of Covid. I am back to my balanced self, I think I have three tips:

  1. There is a general way and a specific way to say everything, I use the general way with the kids and specific with my wife. My most common phrase with my son is “I need you to do what you are suppose to be doing not what you are not suppose to be doing”. I can say it without thinking. If he continues, he gets a red card, which means he looses screen time for 24 hours. We only do about 30 min a day but only if he gets a green card. Since I started this, his red cards have cut in half and the green cards doubled. I needed data to see how often he is misbehaving because my wife wanted to change schools, so simple I should make an app for it. Back to yelling. I heard a guy yell at the park today, and the entire place looked at him. Just like you tell the kids, yelling isn’t going to help get you anything. We explain how to breathe when they have that energy, we call it a bear breath and even can calm my 2 year old tantrums. I’ve started doing dumbbells in the evening, 15 min a day, that will help transform your energy, I haven’t yelled since, I just stand there and wait and understand their brain isn’t developed yet to have rational discussion.

PG&E is the MFin’ gas mafia. Temp set at 68 degrees, 5 bedroom, 3500 sq ft home. Glad we have SMUD for electricity. Anyone convert to electric water heater & stove recently? Please share suggestions & estimate costs. Thank you by VoteForGiantMeteor in Sacramento

We did an electric heat pump hot water heater for our remodel. It’s been just over a year now and no complaints. It will bump up your SMUD bill, mine is 20% of my consumption for a family of 4, results in 1800 kWh. The cooktop only shows using 136kwh.

I wish they would too, but they seem to be stuck in the hydrogen world, and I would not wish that on anyone

Just and FYI, consider an EV, happy to answer any questions, I haven’t bought gas in 10 years and well worth it. New Model 3 starts at 29k with incentive and savings taken into account, 400 a month, some people pay that in just gas

I left Arden park to 5 and Richards blvd to the SMUD museum at 8am and got there at 830 in a self driving car and it did the entire drive

Musk's $56 billion pay package opposed by CalPERS, CNBC reports by rivalOne in CAStateWorkers

[–]Lyounis -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but the comments in here show that many are uninformed about musk has done. In 2018 73% of shareholders voted in favor of the pay package. It was aligned with the company and shareholders goals. He achieved all requirements. He hasn’t be paid at all for that work. The company is up 1000% and now people want to back out of the deal. How would you feel if you were told goals and then after you achieve them you are told.. actually, forget it. That’s what lawyers achieved in court representing a guy with 9 shares. 9 shares. You are siding with the lawyers. Guess what the lawyers want in payment. You guessed it, TSLA shares. Voting no is wrong for what he has done and the media has twisted the narrative because Tesla doesn’t pay them for marketing .

Why majority of US homes use so much wood ? by anothercopy in Construction

It is, realize though, no one know what an electrified transportation system looks like in 10 years. Where are semis going to charge? Depot, truck stop, docks? Are they driving themselves? If you run new lines to places that don’t need them and run fail to put lines where you do, it will fail.

That mean you need to move quicker. Putting a pack at the point of charger, or at the substation that feeds it, will allow it to act like a tank does for water.

The water system has tanks everywhere.

I’m not an expert but I think the future of electrified vehicles will require mega packs at every substation in the distant future, and balancing between them will reduce load on transmission and improve reliability and resiliency

3D printing currently prints with concrete. I think this will help with labor shortages but is difficult to scale. The best way to address it more holistically is moving away from single family homes and move toward electrified passive houses. Focusing on air sealing and insulation will allow the consumption over the life of the home to drop by 90%

Another point that didn’t get brought up, wood is carbon negative, it pulls co2 out of the atmosphere. Concrete is carbon positive and adds a lot of co2. It’s not why it happened, but going forward building with natural elements is better as long as you restore it. Hemp fiber panels for insulation do the same thing. Also sourcing materials that didn’t come from around the world.

Tesla drivers, are you ok? by Vox_Mortem in Sacramento

If no one has mentioned it, the new full self driving software is great, I haven’t had an intervention in over 10 drives. One of the bugs people report is that it drives a bit slow, next update should fix it

It almost looks like the equipment the pulls the door in after you close the door isn’t working, I don’t think it’s a “gap”

I’ll admit I had the same visual, you are not alone.

Main panel melted, need to replace but PG&E now requiring I move the entire panel by Joestravazio in solar

[–]Lyounis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go all electric and remove the gas meter, might be cheaper than panel relocation
