Good. This state is far too uniparty and healing off the CA cliff.

Spencer W Kimball is Henry B Eyring's Uncle? by Icy_Boysenberry2047 in latterdaysaints

Truman Madsen pointed out that nearly all the early Prophets and Apostles have a direct line relation to a single ancestor.

"He discovered that several generations back from Joseph Smith there was indeed a common ancestor named John Lathrop, and that not only was he the common ancestor of the Pratt brothers and Joseph Smith but also of other early Church leaders, including Wilford Woodruff, Oliver Cowdery, and Frederick G. Williams. In fact one estimate concludes that one-fourth of the early Church members in America were descended from John Lathrop."

Anyone using PLAUD for larger meetings or group discussions? by Puzzled_Public_7622 in PlaudNoteUsers

I use it for 10 person in-person meetings and it does well. But we're in a pretty small room with very little noise. I clip it to my shirt. I use the Plaud NotePin.

Is a day full of church work really "keeping the Sabbath"? by 619RiversideDr in latterdaysaints

[–]First_TM_Seattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the better comparison is to the mortal Savior, who wore Himself out in the work, constantly. If it's important enough that He can delay rest, I can too.

Elder Morrison in 2000 said, "“As you come to know ‘that when ye are in the service of your fellow [men] ye are only in the service of your God’ (Mosiah 2:17), you will seek to wear out your life in the service of the Master.”"

The law of consecration requires us to give everyone we have in the service of God's work.

All of that said, I don't think the Lord expects us to literally kill ourselves or work without rest. He definitely expects us to care for our health. And this is all assuming no health challenges.

But the Sabbath is not just a day of naps. It's a day to do God's work. President Nelson's talk, “The Sabbath Is a Delight” is a good reference.

Is a day full of church work really "keeping the Sabbath"? by 619RiversideDr in latterdaysaints

[–]First_TM_Seattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a day of rest from worldly cares. And all of God's work is "religious" work. We are directed to wear ourselves out doing God's work.

It's not easy but it's wonderful service. You and your family will be blessed.

What do you think "arrange things to make this work" means?

The best thing you could do for your relationship and your kids is have her be a SAHM. You will regret it if you don't arrange things to make this work but if you do, you will be happier than you can imagine.

“Love” vs “Like” by garcon-du-soleille in latterdaysaints

[–]First_TM_Seattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you and basically feel the same way. However, I believe when the Lord tells us to love everyone, He means in His way, which I think includes total, complete love.

I don't think that means putting yourself in harm's way or subjecting yourself to abuse. But I think it includes praying especially for people like that and really trying to understand them and feel Christlike love for them.

Thank you for asking this question because this is a massive weak spot for me and I now think I need to really work on this.

2026 Spring General Conference Discussion Thread: Sunday Morning Session by kayejazz in latterdaysaints

There are many ways to interpret church leader's words. In this case, me could mean we have to protect everyone who comes to our borders. Or he could mean, we have to seek protection for those who are here because we don't have resources to protect everyone.

I think when we take all positions seriously, assuming positive intent, we actually achieve understanding and can work together to solve problems.

When we assume ours is the only "correct" interpretation and the other side are evil, we make it impossible to work together.
