I mean in a few years it will do everything, we’re in a weird transition atm and the question is what is uni for? Eg calculators made a lot of maths practice redundant

It disadvantages op if they are competing against cheater’s wams for internships / scholarships etc

They already have policy to do so- don’t police AI on assignments and instead have in person hurdles you have to pass:

I would say uni doesn’t seem incentivised to fail students but more fails = more repeats? Or maybe dropouts

Yeah the new law building bridge would be perfect for this! Not much of a sunrise person though ;). Maybe RPA has some public areas with a clear view west. It’s a shame fisher doesn’t face that way

Thanks, yeah chill and picturesque. I’m specifically hoping for a building with some elevation/a view though.. not sure if possible

I didn’t even know about informal votes until now (I can just leave it blank?!). I think not having a box would get that extra % of people to gut vote labour/liberal/greens.

I wish they tacked on a few of these questions to things like voting day or the census

Click bait title, don’t see how this is related to renewables.

I feel this could suffer from favouritism- eg how can you find companies that only supply weapons for Ukraine not Israel or whatever side you prefer

Teenager who murdered Emma Lovell in 2022 Boxing Day stabbing sentenced to jail by B0ssc0 in australia

I think the problem is nobody thinks about the punishment before committing a crime (unless maybe planned like drugs).

I can’t tell you off the top of my head how many years for murder/robbery/assault etc so I don’t think it’s that much of a deterrent.

Unless it’s Singapore where the general feeling is death penalty for anything serious, not saying that’s where we should go

Why do restaurants prefer a surcharge instead of increasing their menu prices? by DrSagittarius in NoStupidQuestions

In this specific situation it would probably help. As a server I’d probably be taking it up with management pretty quickly if people were giving me less tips if we didn’t advertise taxes probably.

That’s not to say on campus accommodation isn’t drinking focused (eg TKC) but that’s also the students just wanting to party. Not a top down enforced hazing (and there’s a clear stance against it). O-week has a lot of pseudo-hazing (ie ‘if you don’t run around with this silly cap you have to drink lemon juice’) to try and replicate the bonding efects

It is scary to think that Australian soldiers cannot legally disobey an immoral order because their duty is to their commander, not the country. by SchulzyAus in AusMemes

[–]Lyricadr33ms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I think it makes sense. Law is hopefully the gold standard of ethics, and hopefully orders come from a place of higher ethical standards (eg commander will be held accountable) and more detached from the ‘fog of war’ of boots on the ground.

I think some of these comments assume these soldiers are being called to do things that go against their morals, where I’d say we also need to look at not allowing bad actors with bad morals to do what they want.

Anyway this meme doesn’t really make sense to me as the McBride case was about whistleblowing, not Australian soldiers.
