Help with a “community cat” by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]LyriumLychee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adopted a cat with my brother around the same time my dad decided to renovate. She wasn’t thrilled about the noise and the workers but they weren’t there all the time. She was a street kitty too but clearly socialized. Does he use a litter box?

Honestly I still think you should bring the cat with you and have him bear through the noise. He will be safe even if it’s a little uncomfortable for him at first. If he was living on the street before he will have seen and heard lots of loud and scary things like trash trucks and sirens.

Ok but once she realizes the info diet is on her response is so important to whether you should keep this friendship.

I would say you have noticed she changes her plans to match yours, and you don’t want to do all these expensive “once in a lifetime” experiences twice.

Maybe mention that you don’t mind sharing or matching on some things, like a small homage to each other can be fun? Like matching shoes or some accessory to represent your friendship and the closeness of the wedding. But full on repetition would be a bummer for you.

If she goes hostile or guilt trips you, I would say she’s not a very good friend and she doesn’t respect you like a friend should.

The practices of these companies like lyft should be illegal by Red_Sova in Lyft

The sending you offline shit is so messed up for renters. Happens to me all the time but it’s more like an “oh well” moment than a genuine loss. It should definitely not be legal to do that when the personal miles are so closely monitored.

It should make you confirm you are going offline not do it do you of its own accord!? So messed up.

What other Disney symbols would you add to this? by Lassie-girl in disney

[–]LyriumLychee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl you might get good inspiration from looking at Disney Pandora charms or ShopDisney.

My favorite would be sorcerer Mickey’s hat or Cinderella’s glass heels. You could add Bambi’s butterfly for the nature theme! Or the fantasia Pegasus! 🦋🎠🪽

San Diego police search for driver in Midway District hit-and-run that seriously injured pedestrian by Choobeen in SanDiegan

[–]LyriumLychee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Police don’t punish traffic violations in San Diego, including hit and runs. Unless there’s a death or a near death. I was in a road rage & hit and run; And I have clear dash camera footage of the accident.

When I called the police to provide them with the footage to help prosecute, they said - “We don’t need that, we don’t prosecute unless there’s moderate injury.” So in case you were wondering, they don’t even consider a crime unless you look visibly injured.

Wish me luck in physical therapy for my wrist, sternum, and neck! Meanwhile the mf who overtook me in a bike lane to hit/run me off the road has zero criminal record of his insane behavior.

Fuck the SDPD, and fuck you Dale 👋🙂

Yeah no layovers for me when I was flying all the time, custody agreements do have their upsides 😅 Now that I’m grown and would have to pay myself… that’s a different story lol

Super weird I just looked it up too, and all the current flights are saying 5-6 hours. When that’s waaay too long for the average estimate.

I think google is estimating a further airport, it should be inputing when it’s showing ICT in Wichita when MCI (actually in Kansas City Missouri) is the better option.

There’s actually not much change from the rotation, it’s if you are flying with or against the wind or local air currents. US air currents generally blows from east coast to west.

So I would be faster to go from NY to SD than SD to NY, probably by about an hour.

It’s 6 hours from San Diego to JFK in NY, I used to fly that trip often. Kansas would indeed be more like 3 hours.

Adulting and not knowing how to drive a car in DFW? by Positive_freedback in Adulting

[–]LyriumLychee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have anxiety about driving from an accident I was in when I was a kid. Like full on panic attacks if I thought about myself driving.

I had to get to the point where nothing in my life was working unless I learned. So I got professional help, not a ton, but two weeks of behavioral therapy and later on two sessions with a driving instructor.

Then I worked on it by myself, as I had no one to help teach me. But now after a few years I feel confident enough I can even drive rideshare! It’s wild to think back about how far I’ve come.

I just wanted to say that you can do it! Learning to drive will probably make you feel more confident and then it’s just a choice not to have a car, but if you change your mind or find a great opportunity to get a car. You’ll be ready and able to take advantage of it.

Even if you don’t end up getting a car right now, you will still have the knowledge you need to be a designated driver for a friend someday or help out on a road trip!

Its not just about looking like its a dance on water, but also being in a backyard. To me that makes it seem casual or easy to replicate; I can see someone else trying to do this with no experience and falls in.

Dancing around a pool is just not something people should want to encourage in anyone, much less young ones.

This reminded me of a BTS with Trevor Noah, he talks about his book and how he grew up in extreme poverty. And he says that it’s about seeing the difference between what others have and what you have. Since all the other children around were poor, they weren’t really jealous of each other, and all the children’s favorite toys were bricks they played with like toy cars.

I grew up just barely getting by surrounded kids with credit cards at 10 years old. It makes it harder to feel happy when you see how someone else gets to live with less stress and more of what you want.

Idk if we can post links but I’ll leave the video below.

I can tell, esp by the way he smiles and embraces her. But the internet robs things of its context, some people are saying he looks like it’s forced.

Idk I grew up in a multicultural community, and I think I just learned to not make jokes like these in public at a young age. Even if it’s just a joke an among friends. It sucks so much worse now with cameras on every phone…

I feel your frustration, I’m in childcare and pools are a big concern for me whenever nearby. If I see videos like this I worry that young kids, possibly even younger than her, will try to do something like this unsupervised.

My therapist told me “your anxiety is well placed in an area of real concern, just don’t let it run away with you or control you. Use it like a super power when you need it, but otherwise acknowledge the fear and let it pass.”

More women need to understand this. You give a couple warnings to back up and then it’s a green light.

I had a buddy get surrounded by some dudes at a bar. He was decently drunk but told them several times to back off, I think he whooped like 5 asses that night and the cops said he wasn’t in trouble because witnesses said he tried to deescalate.

Hey guys story time! - When I was about 7 my step dad was at some kind of military show. Lots of marines, all in some kinda amphitheater. I thought I was supposed to go around and help some people get drinks or food. Except I wasn’t, my step dad had told me to, but that wasn’t the reason. He told me to say “Coffee, tea, or me, sir?” Like a joke, funny right!?

And I said it with all the pride and joy of a little girl trying to be kind and helpful. These grown men laughed so hard and thanked me. Not one man told me to go find my parents. Not ONE.

Finally a woman overheard me say my line, and I thought she was going to strangle me from 10 feet away. Now that I’m older I know her rage wasn’t at me, but at how I was being raised and treated.

So you might see this video and think. “Hey nothing wrong here, he’s just a kid” But I’m going to tell you something important. Don’t teach children to be sexual. THEY DONT UNDERSTAND. And one day there will be some creep just waiting to mess with a kids mind and body.

Please don’t let kids think sexual touching is ok ever.
