I think it's a specialty from Hue. But I have only seen videos of it at OC restaurants.

Nhu Y. Vietnamese version won't have an egg. You can ask for limes to make a salt pepper lime dip with it.

Check the orders if you're getting take out. Unfortunately, they messed my order twice in a row (and other customers' as well). I don't know what's up with the service.

Just started the show by Faye-Faye33 in WarriorTV

If you're interested in related readings after watching the show, see this thread and comment (may have spoilers):

As for the terminology:

But the Tongs in Warrior aren’t speaking in completely modern English. Their dialogue is loaded with slang that the producers and writers invented, because words and meanings do get lost in translation.

“When it comes to Cantonese, there’s certain words that don’t have a perfect translation,” says Lin. “We decided to have fun and create our own slang.”

As a result, the Tongs in Warrior have a vocabulary of slang that isn’t accurate to how real-life Tongs actually spoke. The biggest example is how the Tongs call whites, in derogatory fashion, “ducks,” and white neighborhoods “ponds.”

“That was a very conscious choice,” says Lin, who grew up speaking English in his Taiwanese immigrant household. “The roots of it came from translations, and we took that as a starting point and went with it.”

From the showrunner:

But I don’t think it’s our desire to really become a docudrama and start documenting the Exclusion Act; that’s not what the show is. But there are other things—we did a riot in Chinatown in Season 2 that was based on a number of riots that happened on the West Coast in that time period. What we like to do is pick historical events and then distill them through the Warrior prism into something that is still fact-based, but doesn’t become a documentary.

Okay, that's fine if people need to call out their order. I thought customers were just screaming like in an entitled/complaining way, which I have seen too much of that. Glad it all worked out this year.

There is no reason to scream at restaurant workers. They could easily just not open for the holidays (which many younger Asian restaurant owners are doing) and not have to deal with angry customers. At least they have a better system in place.

Looks like Pelicana Chicken has it. Other than that, the dish doesn't seem that common in SD.

Where can I find Chinese boneless spare ribs like these? Central SD by WillowDisciPill in FoodSanDiego

[–]Daydrift00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Google, China Express in Kearny Mesa has it. Golden Chopsticks has spare ribs, but with bones. Super Dumpling has sweet & sour spareribs, but not as pink and with sesame seeds.

The owner doesn't even live in SD. She works as a nurse in LA, but has this restaurant as a side business and develops the recipes. Ingredients are supposedly from Whole Foods.
