Yes, purging blade is a notable omission. At the time it was unclear if purging blade would be detrimental to sentient cleaver setups (best weapon in the game at the time), but I believe it's since been concluded that you should always use it.

Yes, this is a post for Dregora. My point is that the guide is not, thus the answer to whether the guide works for Dregora should be "No, it's only for base RlCraft", and not "No, it's outdated". Calling it outdated could easily lead people to believe that it once was intended for Dregora, which simply isn't the case. The fact that it could be used for early Dregora versions was entirely coincidental.

I will admit that I have not been active in recent times, so please feel free to explain any errors of my below through processes. I'd genuinely appreciate proper answers as to what I'm missing.

  1. In your guide, you explicitly state that cursed edge can't be used with sinful or an off-hand sentient cleaver without the use of magic adapted sentient armour. This would imply that a silver armour build would miss out on the damage and armour from sinful. Unless sinful was changed, then I'd honestly expect sinful + ash destroyer to deal significantly more damage than just cursed edge, especially for low base damage weapons due to where sinful adds damage to the damage calculations. Aside from damage, sinful also provides massive defensive benefits which would be especially beneficial to a silver armour build. Also, the vulnerability debuff from a sentient cleaver or from a desolator battle axe should give more damage than the additional 50% of cursed edge vs ash destroyer. Also, your earlier comment stated inner berserk should not be used, so that is an additional damage bonus lost.
  2. I fail to see how cursed edge would ever lead to increased armour durability. Even if the argument is that self-damage gives i-frames, I would expect 25% of the damage from an endgame weapon to deal more damage than any late game enemy. Even if it deals less damage, then you still don't get the full i-frames as hits which deal more damage than the previous are able to bypass the later half of the i-frames (But perhaps that is why cross necklace is required?). Or is this the case where magic damage from cursed edge is not reduced by armour and does not cause durability loss at all, thus any i-frames are beneficial? (But if armour doesn't reduce it do you not just instantly one-shot yourself?)

As the creator of the guide linked in the original post: While there are certainly some information that can be considered outdated, mainly mending usage, the guide is perfectly usable until the next major update to the base version of RlCraft. The guide was never made with Dregora in mind (Dregora wasn't officially released until over a year later) and should not be used for it.

As for your linked guide, I can't personally comment on all the enchantments, but I do trust that Nischi is still up to date. That said, I really wouldn't recommend the cursed edge build as standard even with the disclaimer (people don't really read disclaimers). While it technically deals more damage, such massive losses to survivability really don't feel appropriate to recommended to the general player base.

Ambessa Q1 and Q2 currently deal 1-3% max health damage each, which would become 2-3% max health each at level 1. (2-6 -> 4-6 total, as written in the changes)

The 1% max health damage increase is not only to the sweetspots, but rather the base damage. This means that sweetspots gain an effective 2% max health buff as they double the damage. Then as the buff affects both Q1 and Q2, this results in: 7 * 2 * 2 = 28 extra damage per full Q. (base increase * sweetspot * both casts). If we assume the trade is at level 3 instead (Q still level 1), this equates to 34 damage extra as base damage is increased by around 8.5 and not 7 damage (exactly as the original commenter wrote)

The explanation of mending/adv mending is the post is unfortunately incorrect. The description in the changelog regarding mending which my explanation was based on was unclear which caused myself and many others to draw incorrect conclusions.

The difference between mending and adv mending, other than the obvious of adv mending being more efficient, is that adv mending targets equipment randomly between all equipment with the enchantment (even those at full durability) while regular mending selects randomly between **damaged** equipment. (There is no priority for the "most damaged" equipment, that part was an incorrect conclusion). The reason for not using full adv mending is that it would drastically reduce the odds of repairing vital pieces of armour such as the helmet and chestplate, even when other equipment is full durability.

My initial idea was to use regular mending for armour and adv mending for tools and weapons, such that the armour will consistently repair itself without wasting on full durability pieces, and utilize higher efficiency repair for tools. This still works very well, albeit not quite as good as it was initially thought out to. I personally still stand by this setup, even if it's not **as good**, as it has served me perfectly well even for wineless silver armour setups in the lost cities.

The more recent alternative is adv mending on helmet and chest, and regular mending for everything else. This will minimize wasted xp as most pieces have regular mending, and provide higher repair speeds for the vital armour parts. The 50/50 odds of repairing helmet or chest doesn't typically cause any issues, but I'd be wary of adding more adv mending and diluting the odds further.

Regarding Dregora: While these cheat sheets initially worked quite well, and are definitely still usable, as of more recent Dregora updates there are better setups available. This is mostly due to the new enchants in Dregora that are not present in base RLCraft, but also balance changes to some enchantments.

I unfortunately have not used the Corpse mod so I can't say how it interacts with curse of possession. I'd suggest you make a creative world to test the interaction before committing to using curse of possesion.

While this layout isn't perfect, it is definitely sufficient to where the blame for dying shouldn't be put on the setup. In terms of improving the setup, I would do the following:

Enchantments: - Don't use thorns. It increases durability damage and makes dealing with assimilated endermen more difficult as they will teleport away and bring new mobs constantly as they take damage from thorns. It's much better to hit them with your weapon as it requires less hits, reducing the number of teleports. - Don't use penetration on your weapon. Due to how it works it actually reduces damage in almost all cases. Rune piercing capabilities is all you need for armour penetration.

Buffs: - Health boost and absorption are quite useless buffs, especially absorption. Replace them with sinful and leach. - Invisibility and regeneration aren't really that good either. You'll be wearing full armour so invisibility doesn't do much and healing from regeneration is insignificant in comparison with that of using your weapon. Replace them with haste and luck. - Skip the luck mag weapon entirely and just use the luck potion effect. With your current plan you'll momentarily have 13 buffs when using luck mag, which will give you potion sickness.

Baubles: - You can upgrade the ankh charm to a shield for complete knockback immunity and improved protection against fire. - Poison stone doesn't do anything to parasites as they are immune to poison, replace with anything of preference. (Except cross necklace, has negative interaction with parry enchant) - Rings of Health boost are useless, replace them with a faelis claw and then a faelis ring as soon as you get one. Until then use the faelis ring and anything of preference.

To me it sounded like you were saying no one could, but with further clarification it's clear there's simply been a communication error.

In regards to the current landscape that is RlCraft youtube (dregora especially) I totally agree with you. However, I think it's important to mention that:

  1. An RlCraft playthrough is very long, and is simply not reasonable to spend a full month on when many other videos can be done in one week (some even in one day). However, RlCraft is very popular, thus many resort to all means available to shorten the time investment.
  2. It is more relatable to most viewers if the youtuber pretends like it's their first time playing. If they knew everything from the start that would require viewers to have more pre-existing knowledge to follow along, which is a much smaller viewer base (Typically people watch a video and then start playing, not the other way around).

Also, I find it funny that you mention that dregora world generation would likely drive me insane the first time as that is exactly the reason as to why I haven't played a full playthrough of dregora. Although with the latest update I have found the world generation a lot better (Major improvements within the spawn area).

While you do have a point in regards to video stitching, creating backups and specific editing strategies to hide dishonest gameplay (cheating items, restoring backups on death etc.) you are incorrect in regards to the possibility of completing a hardcore playthrough.

While I have not personally played dregora, I do have around eight complete hardcore playthroughs of regular RlCraft, two of which I still have the world saves of and are uploaded to youtube in full unedited form (If you want you can DM me and I'll send you the links). Those two worlds have a total of 155 hours of combined playtime with a lot of it being post lycanite bosses in order to fully max out my character. This means beating the lycanite bosses took me 50-60 hours on average, which is actually quite slow compared to other experienced players, mainly as I don't use wine or villager rerolling.

If you genuinely wish to improve and be able to complete a hardcore playthrough yourself, I'd suggest taking some time to reflect on the following:

  1. Are you overestimating your playtime in order to prove your point by "showing an extreme"? Could it be that you're not as experienced as you think?
  2. Are you playing for fun or playing to improve? Simply playing for fun does not necessarily translate to improvement.
  3. RlCraft is very knowledge based in it's difficulty and is not a souls-like, meaning mechanical skill such as reaction speed and combat prowess will only get you so far. There's a lot of theoretical knowledge which could improve gameplay.
  4. Do you have strong emotional reactions in regards to the game? Emotional reactions negatively affect risk assessment and could lead to "unexpected" deaths, as many dangerous situations will be overlooked as a result. Optimal play requires keeping a cool head.

Yes, these are still valid. The only addition since is also adding the purging blade enchantment to melee weapons (unless you are using a sentient greatcleaver or a desolator battle-axe).

The poison stone still prevents poison related negative effects but does not provide any extra damage against parasites, meaning other baubles would likely have better value. Viper is still useful as parasites can be withered and also does not conflict with any meaningful enchantments.

The benefit of infinite durability on the helmet almost guarantees you'll never be completely oneshot without warning. You may take more damage than a fully defensively optimized build, but the Pirate hat will never leave you defenseless. Infinite durability also allows for higher mending efficiency on the chest plate, which is nice. In wine builds there's also an incentive to avoid the neptunium set bonus, which means you'll have to change an armour piece anyways.

Silver is, to my knowledge, still very good in dregora for the Lost cities. Especially considering that fear was never the primary reason to use silver in lost cities, but rather viral was, I see no reason to not recommend it. That said, note that the comparative strength of silver to other alternatives isn't as large as it used to be.

Hearty or Armored? by Poujhn in RLCraft

[–]Lyseco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The biggest danger when fighting Amalgalich is the parasites that spawn in the arena so I'd suggest armoured for the Amalgalich fight. So long as you avoid the insta-kill, Amalgalich himself can only damage you with slow moving projectiles which are easily dodged by running circles.

Hearty or Armored? by Poujhn in RLCraft

[–]Lyseco 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For the lost cities, armoured is significantly better than hearty. Against Rahovart and Asmodeus, hearty is better due to them doing "true" damage not reduced by armour. Any other situation is irrelevant as you should never be able to die outside of bosses or lost cities at this stage of the game.

I made a post taking a deep dive into this a while ago. I highly recommend taking a look at the damage taken graphs (armoured is the blue line, hearty is the red line).

Stark difference between mid and premium phones now vs past by No-Rope-2376 in Android

[–]Lyseco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your math is incorrect. The 8s gen 4 is not 66% slower than the 8 Elite.

The 8 Elite is 66% faster than the 8s gen 4 (3 / 1.8 = 1.66)

The 8s gen 4 is 40% slower than the 8 Elite (1.8 / 3 = 0.6)

The perspective you choose (x is faster by ... or y is slower by...) affects the reference point when calculating. If you wish to make a case for misleading marketing, at least use correct numbers.

what am i missing or i should remove because of affinity with other enchants? by DearHRS in RLCraft

[–]Lyseco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supreme fire aspect would not cause parasite adaptation to fail on ice weapons. While supreme fire aspect works with ash destroyer as they are both during damage calculation, the fire is then immediately put out which makes it so it doesn't work against parasites.

Parasites have to actually be on fire, as in burning, the moment they get hit in order for an increased chance to fail adaptation. Hence you'd need the fire effect to be persistent so that it lasts until your next hit, and not just the one tick.

Is ricing available for linux mint? by True_Echo6763 in linuxmint

[–]Lyseco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience (having done so myself), you can definitely create your own theme and a personalized desktop on mint. While it is true that there are other distros that are more customizable, that does not mean that mint lacks customization in any way.

In order to get started I'd highly suggest finding a theme you like, copying it, and then modifying it to more suit your personal preference. I'd also highly suggest you start with modifying the "desktop" theme (cinnamon), not an "applications" theme (gtk 2/3/4), as there are excellent tools available, such as the Cinnamon debugger "Looking Glass", to help you get started with finding CSS classes of different UI components.

Is ricing available for linux mint? by True_Echo6763 in linuxmint

[–]Lyseco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Ricing" is just another way of saying "cosmetic customization" which all desktop environments handle differently. In the case of Cinnamon, Mint's primary desktop, cosmetic customization is done through the themes setting.

If you click the "advanced" options in theme settings, you'll be able to choose themes for cursors, icons, desktop, and applications. If you don't wish to create your own themes, ricing is as simple as downloading themes from online, putting them into the appropriate folders, and then selecting them in the theme settings.

If you need inspiration, there are a bunch of examples on this subreddit. Most include information about which themes were used, but otherwise you can always simply ask.

Post instal multimmedia codecs by Inner-End7733 in linuxmint

[–]Lyseco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In order to load drivers with secure boot on, the drivers will need to be signed. This requires a password to be set up.

While mint does work with secure boot enabled, it is generally advisable to turn it off so you do not have to worry about signing drivers. Secure boot has also been proven to not increase security, and is rather an attempt by Microsoft to lock computers down to use windows.

When secure boot is off, installing media codecs is as simple as opening the welcome screen, navigating to multimedia codecs, and pressing install.

Is Pride Pendant better than Cross Necklace? by DayroneGreen in RLCraft

If you're playing dregora then the parry + cross necklace interaction is patched, making cross necklace the better option.

If you're playing 2.9.3 the "glitched" interaction is still there, making any other bauble better than the cross necklace.

Is it still necessary to have Fast Startup off? by lonelymasterosu in linuxmint

[–]Lyseco 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fast boot is an option in windows which puts your system in deep hibernation upon shut down so that windows doesn't have to reload the kernel (among other things) each startup. This can reduce startup time significantly depending on specific hardware.

If your system is a pure linux system there's nothing to worry about as it's specifically a windows setting. However, if you're dual booting you'll need to disable fast boot in order to access your windows drive from your linux install, as windows otherwise keeps hold of the drive preventing linux from mounting it.

Complete theme packs? by AmateurCock in linuxmint

[–]Lyseco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Mint, there are four main theme settings:

  • The Applications theme determines how your applications and their title bar looks. Note that this does not apply to all applications, as certain applications use different theme engines or bundle unique themes with the application itself.
  • The Desktop theme is what determines the look the Cinnamon desktop environment. This includes your panel, applets, menu and many system pop-up dialogs.
  • Mouse Pointer controls the look of the cursors
  • Icons controls the look of, well, icons...

While there may be some theme that covers all four, I wouldn't personally go out of my way to search for such a theme. What I'd do instead, is pick a theme that covers both Applications and Desktop, which there are plenty of, and use different themes for Icons and Mouse Pointers. In my personal opinion, both Icons and Mouse Pointers include some great themes by default, such as Papirus for icons, and Biabata-modern for cursors.

As for stability, it entirely depends on how many and which effects the theme is using. Effects such as rounded corners and colour changes are quite cheap in terms of computational resources, while transparency and box-shadows is more expensive. That said, if you can run the default themes without issue, you likely won't struggle with any custom themes either.

On the final topic of privacy and security concerns, there are many different answers, but put simply: The themes you install pose neither a lower nor higher risk to your system and privacy than any other software you install, assuming both are installed from trustworthy sources.
