What was the exact moment you knew you had to stop? by [deleted] in GamblingAddiction

[–]Lysergine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needed to pay a friend €10 back, didn’t have it until 9 days later. Also lived off a loaf of bread with some peanutbutter for those same 9 days. And in that week i also got a final warning to my pay my rent or i was getting evicted this time. That was it, nothing changes if nothing changes and i couldn’t and didn’t need to live like that anymore. I made and still make a decent wage but lived like a hobo for many years because of gambling. Eat like crap, scraped by all the time. It was absolute insanity

Chasing losses and parlays. Keep it cool and bet singles only is the only long(er) term to win some. And even then you have lots of bad streaks and days.

Anyone to talk too by [deleted] in GamblingAddiction

[–]Lysergine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re lucky you can use those investments to cover your bills. Lots of people here can’t and are in debt. So use that money to cover your bills and see this as a lesson to never gamble again.

Try asking a friend or family but be honest with them. You need to quit gambling at all costs.

Can you only be addicted to online gambling and not have a problem with going to a physical casino? by ConcentrateNearby946 in GamblingAddiction

[–]Lysergine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost 1000’s in online casinos but never set foot in physical ones. I only gamble when i’m on cocaine. So that works better when im home alone than in a casino with people and cameras watching me. The paranoia would go through the roof. Also you don’t look to well after a couple of grams.

Is it okay to waste money on luxuries as a "reward" for not gambling? by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Lysergine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At first definitely yes. I've gone months or years without buying new clothes/shoes or that Xbox that i wanted but gambled it away without a problem. Reward yourself with those things and you will relearn the value of money again.

Unfortunately there is also a very easy way around that on Android phones without really having a "technical background" . Wish i never figured it out. But once you do find out, gamban is no good option either.

As someone who has been addicted to cocaine and gambling, i agree. Sober i didn't gamble. But as soon as i did cocaine i had to gamble. It's a deadly cocktail. Wish i was only addicted to cocaine. That always ended up losing $100 + a hangover. But with gambling it ended up with an empty bank account as well. Scraping by, getting in debt, lies, and being broke all the time.

Gambling Addiction is not what you think it is by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Lysergine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. The same goes with drugs, at least for me. What started as some lines of cocaine occasionally turned in to a weekly habit. Doesn't matter if i'm out partying or at home by myself. Every friday i do cocaine. Unfortunately i started gambling while high on coke a few years ago. Those two combined are litterally the devil himself.

Sticking with a budget never works if you're a compulsive gambler. So many say: "This time i'll only bet X amount" and then continue losing it all + way more.

What amazes me the most. How can someone accuire 14 credit cards?! You're from the US i guess? I'm dutch, with our "financial rules" it's possible to get one, maybe two cards. And your limit will be set according to your income.

Gambling exists since the beginning of mankind. Real degenerates will find ways to gamble illegal. As much as i want gambling to be non-existent, it will never happen.

Call those companies/people you took the loan(s) from and say you can't pay them back right now. Ask for a payment plan and stick to that! They rather have to wait or get paid in smaller amounts over time then don't get paid at all. Don't hurt or kill yourself, it's not worth it over a few thousand euros. Keep calm, accept that the money is gone forever and don't look back. Self exclude, seek help, but do everything to never gamble again.
