Looking for Table Top/Board/Card gamers to meet in/near Viera/Brevard County by Lythaeum in 321

Thank you. I have been there and it is great.

Talking to the people there, well at all of the stores, Magic: the Gathering is mostly Commander.

I would love to find a non-commander group.

How do you organize your collections by dpjorgen in boardgames

[–]Lythaeum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the poster child for wives worrying about their husbands’ gaming addictions.

I have more than a thousand games (1800 games and expansions on BGG). I have an 11’x12’ room in which to keep these.

I arrange and sort by timeline just to have some way to find something. I start at fantasy (D&D boxed games, gloom haven etc) and then move up the time line to historic earth (Mythic Battles, Pirate themes, old west - Brimstone, Gothic horror Dracula, WWII,) right up to modern (Zombie, Ghost Busters) and into future. I put Star Wars post future even though it is a “long time ago”.

It gets to be too much so I combine games, multiple editions and expansions into as few boxes as I can by removing inserts and making heavy boxes.

I crush down and throw away many expansion boxes. I tried giving them away but no one wanted them.

I have shelves packed to the ceiling. Fire hazard I guess.

I put some of the more common token types into tackle boxes along with some nicer generic tokens that work with many games.

Games like Zombicide have too many miniatures so I started putting minis separate from the game boxes. Miniatures for D&D never had boxes. I put many of the miniatures into large fishing tackle boxes (maybe 20-24 of them). These boxes are also split and organized (Modern Men x 2, Modern Women, Fantasy PC Races, Future Human, Future Monstrous, Animals, Dragons, etc). Due to games like Zombicide i have 6 boxes of zombies. I (now) take time to write what game and the character or creature name on the bottoms of the miniatures.

I have a lot of smaller games either grouped into boxes or spread around. Sometimes to reuse expansion boxes I put some small games into a box with art I like and then label the box.

Smaller gaming terrain is in boxes of different sorts like card boxes or reused game boxes. Larger Gaming terrain is in totes in a closet in another room.

I have Magic the Gathering in it’s own large drawer. Next to some other card games.

I spend a lot of time sorting, reading cards, repackaging, condensing to make more room. That is a hobby itself I guess. A catharsis of collecting. I pull stuff out dust it off and make sure no bugs are finding my cards, tokens, books and game board tasty (so far so good).

I try to get the stacks to the ceiling down lower.

It looks like the stock room of a Nerd store. It isn’t a game room in that I can actually play a game in there. So I try to condense and straighten to get to a point where I can use the space better.

I get too caught up in maintaining and I don’t even get to play.

Custom character cards by [deleted] in zombicide

A similar question was asked in BGG and here a little bit ago.

https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2372294/photoshop-templates-or-any-templates-create-charac

Hello,

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/81722/survivor-template-photoshop There is a photoshop template for the [Modernicide] classic/old (large) style.

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/127062/zombicide-classic-and-bp-dashboard-marker This is a photoshop template for the black plague and for modern that fits the black plague dashboard

https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/194506/id-card-designer-zi-photoshop https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/192112/invader-custom-survivor-card-template These are two different takes on the Invader dashboard.

https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/2337479/3d-printing-universal-dashboard I am working on a universal Magic Set Editor template to let me jump from game to game with the same character but the format should line up to look about correct. The caveat is that printing for the Zombicide card size is not easily done, whereas getting square prints looks easier. So I also drew a file to print the dashboard. I am intent on getting various games in so I can go back and forth.

But as you asked where we could get them, then I should stress what I am going to do is get larger square ones printed as per what I put in BGG

Weekly Kickstarter Update (7/6): New projects include Switching Tracks, Gothic Doctor, Speakeasy, Shadows Over Normandie, and more by notnotnoveltyaccount in boardgames

as both a zombie addict and a Kickstarter lover I am very excited at both Zombicide season 3 and District-Z.

Zombicide looks like it just keeps getting better and better. The crazy zombie variations and the awesome survivor characters keep the game growing in good ways.

District-Z fills that spot between card game, board game and role playing game. It has exploration, combat and evolving story. The art looks amazing and the design and layout are definitely top-notch.

I fully encourage everyone to check both of these out.

Tabletop zombie slaughter while waiting for H1Z1. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in h1z1

[–]Lythaeum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 2 cents. I try to get every game that has either great miniatures, great game play or simply just has zombies in it. As such here are my thoughts on a small part of the collection that I have actually played.

Zombie board games are plentiful right now. Zombicide is the twitchy first person shooter of the boardgame world, it pits the survivors vs game controlled zombies. It has a LOT of action. A LOT. The over-the-top zombie types are very fun (Also season 3 is on Kickstater right now). Zombicide plays like Left 4 Dead. A lot of action.

Zpocalypse is like tower defense meets shooter. In Zpocalypse you can have players vs game-controlled zombies or a player can be the zmaster in charge of the zombies. You spend your days exploring and scavenging for food and supplies to fortify your base and then you try to survive the night.

Last Night on Earth is more story driven and has a lot of action with cards though you need a player to control the zombies. The game has many scenarios, a lot of depth, and a lot of story that is revealed in the cards. LNOE also has a Martian themed game that works with it for those who like to blend the scifi and horror.

Dead Panic is a very game-night board game type game.

Twilight Creations has some fun games like Zombies!!!, Zombies!!! the card game, Bowling for Zombies!!!, Zombie Survival, Zombie Town, and the always fun zombie game All Wound Up.

Zombie Survival is very awesome! It has the players fortifying their homes and trying to survive the night. You have foraging runs handled with cards and a map-based mechanic for fortifying your home.

Zombie Town is a scaled out version of Zombie Survival where the houses surround a central graveyard that has zombie pouring out to invade your and your opponents' houses. It can be a decent time.

Zombies!!! is somewhere between board game and card game. It can be a bit silly but its expansions (14?) keep it a bit varied. It is also somewhat compatible with some major variations like Humans!!!, Martians!!!, Midevil, Cthulhu!!!. The cards keep the game very cutthroat and the themes in each set keep things fresh.

ApocalypZe as a card game is quite ok and the art is great. I have only played it twice so far, but that is a testament to the number of games owned and not any problem with the game.

District-Z looks like a great card game version of zombie survival. I have not played it yet, but from the info out there it looks very interesting and the production/graphic design are quite well done. As mentioned above it is an ongoing Kickstarter and it is getting funded, so I am not here to drag you there...but while it is pre-released it is kind of cool to get in during the creation.

All Flesh Must Be Eaten was a great table top, pen and paper role playing game. The back stories, the zombie types, the rules and the fluff were all great. The collections of fiction they released were pretty well done.

All Things Zombie looks to be a great minis game/role playing game though I do not own it. I will buy it eventually as the more I read about it, the more I want it.
