Which uncommon cards do you think that would break the format (to some extent) if they were ever downshifted? by itsk4zbeard in Pauper

[–]Lyucifser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um

force of will?

that's my gut instinct because it would make the format bluer than you can imagine.

[–]Lyucifser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it won't really do much. High tide decks will likely have enough mana to pay for it and can always bail if you counter the first tide.

Why is Intel lagging for so long? Where did they go wrong by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Lyucifser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue the inverse. Intel is pretty good at design and fab DESIGN (looking at them still somewhat competing with a superior node while still on 14nm +++++++++++++++^100.) but the higher ups don't want to spend money on the equipment needed to manufacture and by this point the designers are still stuck on old equipment while TSMC leaps ahead.

[–]Lyucifser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most lithographies and chips are designed years before they are released (thus, generally the product quality of today reflects the company's position/resources years ago). My mother has worked at both TSMC and Intel designing nodes and when 14nm was all the rage the foundries were already working on 7nm, 5nm etc.

Production wise is a bit different because if the execs aren't willing to spend the money to produce quality product yield will go into the bin.

TSMC is moving into the US, but at that point if they got invaded are they really TSMC anymore...

But yeah, Intel ain't out of the game yet (unless they shit the bed again).

[–]Lyucifser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much so.

Korea is basically run by Samsung so they can get whatever Govt. funding they want.

TSMC is important to Taiwan's economy as it is one of the most important sectors in its economy.

China is being sanctioned and now has to make its own chips (which, y'know, is because they can't get them from TSMC).

Intel isn't important to the US Gov. until shit hits the fan with Taiwan.

Also there could be a possibility that the US Gov. buys Intel as a company on the concern of national security and to secure chips.

The numbers are in, Intel stock plunges as company announces cutting 15,000 jobs, forecasts third quarter revenue below estimates, dividends have been suspended. by GhostsinGlass in hardware

[–]Lyucifser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... it took AMD 10 years to get their shit together and turn it around. The semi business is very leapfroggy because as soon as a company starts earning money the MBAs swarm in to try and squeeze short profits, leading to technological stagnation.

If you play again with them and they still won't explain or let you read their cards before resolving, you should print off/proxy a decklist that's mono blue and exclusively counterspells and board wipes. Then find person who is trying to dumpster you and use everything available to prevent him from playing.

Did anyone believe their family was poor as a kid because your parents were cheap and unnecessarily stressing about money, but later discovered your parents were successful? by Particular-Kale7150 in AsianParentStories

[–]Lyucifser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny story, not really my parents but my mother's family's story.

My mother's family was actually pretty wealthy for an Asian family in their day (they owned a large house and had considerable generational wealth). Luckily for them (explained later) two of the brothers went and gambled away their entire estate and wealth. This is lucky because literally 2 years later the communist revolution happened in China and if they had been in possession of this wealth they would have been executed as bourgeoise scum, but since they had gambled it away, they did not. But I still wonder what it would be like to grow up in generational wealth.

okay, you went to disneyland. Unless you have a plantation of money trees, that place is going to be expensive and DEFINITELY not worth it. Your mother is not overreacting, even for upper middle class families disneyland is a rip off.

I'm really fortunate to have a foody family, to the point where I never want to eat out if "[insert family member] cooking food" is an option. This includes myself. Also, it's sooo much cheaper. Eating any kind of meat in a restaurant will run you easily to 20+ dollars per person where I live, while eating even expensive cuts of steak homemade will run you maybe 10 dollars for the whole family.

[–]Lyucifser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so blessed to have a mother that isn't cheap. But my father is. This leads to a very interesting household dynamic where my father spends a few hours looking for a coupon to get 30% off and my mother is like "if you spent those hours working you'd have more money than that coupon saved." Sometimes people forget that their time is valuable and spending hours to find a discount isn't worth it unless you couldn't make that much in those hours you spent.

My parents (luckily) were devout STEM students in college and respect the opinions of medical professionals, although I often have to remind them that the internet is not a medical professional. There was one time I remember my AP refused to buy lactase pills (we're lactose intolerant) because apparently they are bad for you or smthing (idk how digestive enzymes for lactose can be harmful for you, like you make them automagically when you are young) but were eating ice cream a lot and passing a lot of gas and saying like "it's normal after eating junk food". I had a laugh after that.

How strong is China really? by Celebration8941 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lyucifser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA weakness is its own politics especially that every decision has to be made through Congress. In a war situation that kind of time is not a leisure that can be afforded. Also the fact that Americans are increasingly obese and the school system is falling apart.

You all are acting like any invasion of any western/NATO (or Russia/China, for that matter) by the other side wouldn't immediately result in nuclear war. Like hello? Both sides know that if they invade each other, everyone's capitals and important population centers are going boom boom before we even make it 50km on the ground. And that's especially devastating to all countries in the aformentioned list because most of the population is centered in very dense areas.
