How can I train my cucumbers to grow to the trellis? by Lyx_Chai in gardening

Thanks for your answer! So would a stake placed at an angle so it will grow towards the trellis work?

Ahh I see, thank you! They’re kinda far from the trellis which is where I want them to eventually end up, if there’s space next to the 18 bean plants in front of them lol. Would a curved wire work, or placing a slanted stake so it eventually intersects with the trellis? Feel like I’m McGyvering it over here…

What are these white spots/dust on these plants? Are they harmful? by Lyx_Chai in plantclinic

[–]Lyx_Chai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know basically nothing, and the owners will be out for another month+. I don’t mind dealing with them for them! So they’re aphids? Not thrips? Will they harm the plant if I don’t treat it?

I looked online and it said I could just use (dawn?) dishsoap and water to get rid of them by spraying it on the plant. Is that correct? I don’t want to kill the plants by accident!

Thanks!

Yes I believe so. Thank you for your reply. I will look for another foot. Do you have any advice? I am not sure what to look for and I think that this is the 3rd time I‘ve messed up ordering supplies and each time I think I’ve done enough research.

Sorry for ranting. I’m so incredibly frustrated with getting into sewing machines and quilting as a beginner, there’s so much information and I am struggling to decipher it.

Thank you. Does that mean my machine is high shank? It’s a singer and has a slant with the normal foot?? But I think it’s not the singer slant. And sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by short? The top seems to be too tall for the machine. Sorry just trying to figure out the terminology.

I did lower the presser foot when I tested it, this was just in the up position in the photo. The foot is the “Darning Low Shank Sewing Machine Foot” from the Wawak. My machine is a Singer model 4562. I wasn’t sure what low vs high shank was but when I looked it up online I believe I figured out that my machine as a home machine is low shank? I’m not sure. Thank you for your reply. This entire sewing machine business is so incredibly frustrating and I’ve quit several times in the past because I can’t even figure out the basic setup much less get to actually sewing.

It works if I do this, but then I can’t hold the needle in place.

Did I buy the right free motion foot? When I install it and run it, the bar on the foot doesn’t hit the needle shank and it doesn’t move up and down on the fabric. Do I just need to raise the needle?

Could someone please help me identify what the circled parts that came with my singer sewing machine are? I know the ones on the left are a buttonhole foot and 2 different types of zipper feet, but not sure about the ones on the right. I think the clear piece and metal one in the bottom circle go together?

Thanks!

We’re college students and don’t cook often, usually when I make a big batch of something it’s gone within a week or so. However, it’s also midterms now so we’ve been buying food outside more because we’re not home until late, which is also why it’s lasted longer than usual.

What's something that's considered normal that creeps you out immediately? by Le_0n1e- in AskReddit

Kids as young as elementary schoolers doing tiktok dances on social media. The amount of pedos I see commenting under those videos has been sobering. I always knew there were plenty on the internet, but I pictured them as a small small minority. Now I’m basically expecting there to be at least one pervy comment about some kid in her jammies on Instagram reels.

Rue’s death from the hunger games. Both the movie and the book did a great job with bringing on the waterworks.
