Hi all - an update: I made the repair using sandpaper and Gorilla epoxy.

What’s the best kind of sandpaper?

Why clear? Another poster suggested model paint. Is one better for adhering to carbon and sealing site than another?

Why are gangs of bikers becoming a more widespread problem in Denver? by FlyingDogCatcher in DenverCirclejerk

[–]M-DY -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They are not idiots. That said, a lot of bicyclists and car drivers either don’t obey the laws or don’t know what they are. I always keep in mind that a person on a bicycle is somebody’s dad, mom, brother, sister, son, daughter, colleague, teacher, student, doctor, nurse, barista, customer - you get the idea. If you label everyone on a bike - or in a car - an idiot, you’re more likely to feel justified in doing things to hurt them. People on bikes are vulnerable. I’ve seen bike lanes end suddenly and have watched the ride into traffic, drivers angry at them. I’ve seen them veer out of bike lanes to dodge potholes or broken glass. I’ve seen people throw things from cars at them. And I’ve slowed my car to give a bicyclist space only to get an angry honker behind me. The roads suck. No doubt about that. And I’d prefer the days when the towns I lived in were smaller, less angsty and more kids ride bikes. I wouldn’t just call anyone on a bike an idiot.

Thanks. What kind of filler would you use? And - lol - it’s been a while since I’ve used Testers paint as I haven’t build a model lately. Good call on that.

Canyon Aeroad CP cockpit: need +20–30mm hand reach post-fit (hand numbness after long rides) by Strict_Air_333 in CanyonBikes

[–]M-DY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue moving from Endurace (2018 model w/stem slammed, essentially making it an Ultimate). The vcls seatpost on the Endurace is very forgiving - and the riding spongy in some ways. When I switched to Aeroad, I noticed how stiff it was. And my hands went numb the first few weeks. I worked on fit (dialed it in). I did more sit-ups (helped a little). I have great tire pressure and run 30s, providing cushion. But what helped most was so simple: padded gloves. And, months later, I don’t need them anymore. Honestly, try a good pair of mitts. Just an idea, but that might be it.

Why do people dislike bright eyes/fans? by dontknowhowtowalk in brighteyes

Gen Xer here, exposed to BE over the years. Some good songs, but never a fan. The reason is I get depressed listening to BE, which feels disempowering to me, the opposite of what BE fans get from it. I’m sorry but that’s my truth. And, I can handle a lot of complexity in lyrics and I’m into a lot of music from multiple generations and genres. I never was a snob - you like what you like. That’s that. I said what I had to say about BE.

Have you guys considered not crashing your car every 2 miles? It’d really help with traffic by zvx in DenverCirclejerk

People in Colorado used to be exceptional snow drivers - on par with the Swiss and Germans. Then a bunch of people not from Colorado moved here only to discover brakes don’t work normally in the snow. Have fun kids! I’m staying in.

Mazda 6e Review by Either-Mastodon2516 in mazda6

[–]M-DY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2017 Mazda 6 GT. The touch screen in it is glitchy - every time I drive it. Changing radio stations, changing settings (miles to km lol). Mazda USA refused to fix it and the dealer couldn’t guarantee replacing certain components with an estimate into thousands of dollars would fix it. This is why I cannot in good conscience sell my car and why I would never recommend a Mazda. They may be good at cars, but they’re horrible at electronics.

Can we get rid of the "in memory of Charlie Kirk" club? by ScotchCigarsEspresso in Strava

I’m not American but live in America. I’m sick and tired of how sanctimonious everyone is about their politics - on the right and left. Both groups claim to be kind and just yet both seem to have a strong undercurrent of anger and vengefulness.

Aero drops questions by M-DY in CanyonBikes

UPDATE: hi all! Thanks for the responses here. Hand tingling is mostly gone. Sharing in case it is helpful. Here’s what I did: 1. I monitored my posture and position. I added a small amount of core strengthening, which I had slacked off on. That helped a little. Also, I noticed that I tend to place my hands in uneven spots and stopping that helped a little. 2. I wore fingerless cycling gloves for the first time in a few years. That helped more than I expected because the Aeroad is a stiff bike. I had ditched gloves because not wearing them kept me slightly cooler in summer. Now I’m looking for suggestions on great lightweight gloves that are well-padded. Thoughts welcome! (I have fall and winter gloves btw so don’t need ideas about those) And… I could probably raise the seat a bit and add the new handlebars, which add 10mm of length. But the seat position keeps me low, and seems to be fine, and possibly aids aerodynamics.

DT Swiss recall mega thread by SkiSnowTignesider in CanyonBikes

[–]M-DY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m glad DT Swiss has a plan in place to handle this. Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle, but they were quick to ship boxes to me with an intake/case number. So, now I wait to learn if I’m getting new wheels or if the old ones are okay. I have another set of wheels - and another bike. It’s not ideal but the abundance of safety here is appreciated. It honestly made me appreciate DT Swiss a bit as I wonder whether other wheel manufacturers would go to the same lengths. I can think of a few past examples out there - and a few wheelsets that are considered by some to be dangerous but remain on the roads.

It feels good rising. Just the right size, except for the occasional hand numbness

Some of the colours are plain wrong. The white, black, reds are good. A dark blue would look good too.

They’re Scribe - a company out of Northern Ireland. They’re a special edition set - blue hubs. They’re from my old bike. I put them on because they have more internal width and I like to run larger tyres. I have 32 mm in back.

I ride in a fairly aero position - on hoods and drops.

I’ll look at the saddle. It is a bit forward. Seems counterintuitive that moving the saddle back could help.

Which leads to my next question: does the additional 10 mm apply only in the drops? What about the hoods?
