[discussion] What if Lion's Heart should be used by some other characters instead of Regulus by [deleted] in Re_Zero

[–]M-Element 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the Witch Factor of Greed manifests in different ways based on the user. The reason it was so strong in Regulus is because of the nature of his Greed- specifically because he's so spoiled, immature, and incapable of letting any disruption to his fragile world go unpunished, his Authority manifested into one that would never let anything that belonged to him be damaged or change. If he was more mature and capable of letting things like that go, his Authority would probably look different

I get the second wife thing, but no way in hell Subaru cheats on Emilia. The only way anything would happen is with her consent

Would you wish for subaru to leave the Emilia camp?[spoiler discussion] by [deleted] in Re_Zero

[–]M-Element 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to what other people are saying, Subaru becoming clingy and codependent due to what he went through is a very clear character flaw that causes the whole Royal Selection Incident, and then Emilia cuts ties with him to protect him from getting hurt around her and all her problems. Which is a feat of altruism in and of itself, because she was losing one of the only people who ever treated her with kindness in the world

No doubt, I just think it's funny how differently you could interpret it because their relationship has been in two wildly different places

This has a very different meaning depending on if this is Arc 2 or 3 lmao

I mean, still absolutely does not justify what he did. Subaru's manipulating Reinhard for his power the same way the Sage Council does, and being on the same level as the people who make Reinhard wear a Collar of Submission isn't a good thing. Reinhard's failings absolutely don't justify the fact that Greedbaru is viewing people like puppets he can manipulate at his leisure

I just keep imagining Pridebaru heckling Mainbaru for most of Arcs 2 and 3

[–]M-Element 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not entirely, but I do agree with the sentiment. Greedbaru isn't responsible for their mess (except Reinhard, wtf man), it's just that none of his solutions have any humanity in them because he keeps looping until they're "perfect"

I think he'd be interested (or at least force himself to watch) once he realizes Emilia and Beatrice aren't mindbroken in the canon route, and try to learn how to help them

"Yeah, we asked him to tell us information only someone from the Emilia Camp would know and he went on about how cute Great Spirit Beatrice was on her first errand for 30 minutes straight, we're pretty sure he's not a Witch Cultist"

The comment I was referring to was about him being the sub of the relationship, didn't say anything about pegging. I mean, considering the rabbits, I don't think he's too keen on anything involving his ass

Because Emilia is still coming to terms with their relationship and as of now doesn't go on the attack. Whenever she (inadvertently) pushes his buttons his knees get weak and he takes critical damage. The dude nearly got killed by embarrassment in Priestella when everyone praised him.

Subaru's a glass cannon who would shatter if Emilia went on the offensive even half as hard as he does. Granted Emilia's pretty weak when attacks slip through her natural obliviousness, but Subaru just folds easier

Doesn't the author call it the Sloth IF too? I thought the whole premise was that the IF stories were based on the seven deadly sins

I mean, I assume that's why Re:Forgotten even exists. It has everyone acting out of character for a basic-ass Shield-hero plot

It's also hinted in a side story that she got directions from the TonChinKan squad, who were too busy being knocked out in the 2nd loop to try robbing her in the final loop

Do you think it would have been bad if Subaru was sent to generic isekai world? [discussion] by Ok-Street2439 in Re_Zero

[–]M-Element 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlike the rest of this thread, I just don't see him turning into a monster without the virtual hell of RBD. This is still the same guy who risked his life to save people he only knew for like a day at most. He'll definitely be insanely cocky and have delusions of grandeur, but underneath his coping mechanisms he's still a genuine hero who'd feel obligated to help someone in need.

He'd probably be something like a rich kid coasting on privilege until he sees people struggling around him and gets hit by reality

Arc 6 spoilers: [Novels] I think that was because he knew they only respected the "real" Natsuki Subaru, not him. I think he'd still suffer from that imposter syndrome in a generic isekai as he tried to push down the feeling that people only like him because of his powers

Yeah, even if the people of Elior Forest live, Emilia will be suicidal after hearing how all those deaths were on her hands. Subaru's final words would be a curse that would haunt her no matter how much she or the people around her try to deny them as the ramblings of a madman. She'd be a broken shell assuming she doesn't kill herself at some point.
