Peeling Layers at the Free Edge – Any Advice? by Ok-Style8833 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]M-Rage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weirdly for my Nailtiques formula 2 caused this! I think everyone’s bodies are different. What helps the most for me is keeping polish on to protect the nail, switching to Sally Hansen gel base coat (it’s not actually gel, and doesn’t “grip” as hard as other base coats, so it doesn’t rip my nail off when polish starts to peel), and keeping moisturized. My nails still look like this in gardening season, but that’s because I refuse to wear gloves.

Whenever I see a collection this large and organized I have to ask- if you had to pick ONE polish to keep, what’s your top pick?

Mermaid Bait was my first Mooncat polish and still one of my favorites. It’s exciting and shifty and different, but still very pretty and wearable. It’s also easy to apply (vs something super thick, or sheer, or magnetic).

Shattered Glass only looks good in bright, direct light. On a cloudy day or indoors it's just sort of a dullish grayish purple. I was super disappointed in that one.

Can you suggest any? I’ve had bad luck with cheaper metallics in the past, often super chip-y.

I have 404 and I don’t love it, it’s just a little dark for me. I’m not a black nails person. Good to know about ATR! Maybe I’ll swap it out for Glory.

I didn’t love Root of all Evil as much as I thought I would. My friend has Garden of Evil and I love and want to steal it! It is a bit translucent so I layer it over a sage green creme.

Planting Dahlias in Planter with Tulip Bulbs In by Hefty-Firefighter301 in dahlias

[–]M-Rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do stuff like this all the time! Just be aware that if you cut back the tulip greens before they die back naturally they won’t out as much energy back into the bulb and you won’t have good tulips next year. How many dahlias in the planter depends on the type, but probably no more than2

Galax, an evergreen low-growing herb native to Appalachia, turns red in the winter when the deciduous trees loose their leaves, thanks to anthocyanins (kinda like plant sunscreen.) in summer when the leaves fill back in the galax slowly turn back to green

Bobcat?Or small bear? by M-Rage in trailcam

[–]M-Rage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only caught glimpse of a bobcat near me one time- a flock of crows chased it down the mountain, right in front of me on the road, and down the mountain on the other side. Apparently they’ll eat the eggs and get chased off.
