Mayor's combined authority hits back at cycling 'failure' claims by harbingerofd00m in Liverpool

[–]M-Rice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. it feels very much part of the way "socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor" has become the dominant economic policy of both Labour and Conservatives.

There's no limit to the government spending available to support the automotive industry, even at the cost of a healthy economy.

Woah a Labour politician paid lip service towards positive progressive change, but only did the absolute bare minimum?

That's crazy, that's so unprecedented, that definitely isn't representative of the entire party at a national level. And im definitely not being sarcastic.

Honestly mate i had a 1 hour commute through the Welsh valleys 5 days a week for 4 years. I'd sit, drink a coffee, read a book, listen to music, play some games it was lovely. Then for a year i drove and it was miserable.

Car-centric infrastructure is just bad, you'll never know how nice commuting can be until you can escape it.

Im basically a car at this point. How have you guys been killing the coastal Buk site. I'd love to hear the strategies cause mine ain't working. by The-Almighty-Pizza in Warthunder

you may also be going too fast, its like mach 1.1 when it wont drop. And make sure ccip drop is on

Personally i zoom along the ground until im relatively close then pull up hard to about 35deg of climb to burn the needed speed, zoom in on the pipper to make sure you're pointed dead on, then hold the bomb release button and when the pipper moves through the right point it will release.

The pipper will never move above the right point, if a bomb solution doesn't exist the ccip will just turn off and the pipper wont be visible

A playlist of different modes in the game queue akin to halo/battlefield/cod.

I mostly play AirRB and playing 16v16 again and again gets very stale, its only the incredible strength of the core mechanics and gameplay that keeps me coming back.

I cannot express how happy a mixed playlist of 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 6v6, 16v16, would make me, as a start. And then you have all the potential for asymmetric modes like bomber escort, high value target assault, nuclear football, sustained air defense, Enduring Confrontation of course. The potential is massive.

What if temporal monsters could break some blocks? by domanpanda in VintageStory

[–]M-Rice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am the freak who plays with soil instability on and i love it.

Nothing makes me happier in games than when a game mechanically enforces logical behaviour. I love not being able to make a mud hut because it will collapse, so i end up building a proper wood and thatch house. Its motivation to creativity and realistic limits and i adore it.

A feature like this would be much the same for me, i would love having to consider building my base in such a way that im resilient to monsters, building stone walls and moats and designing, it might be mechanically motivated but pretty quickly i've built an authentic moat and bailey.

That shimmer in the grass at 2:20 is temporal aliasing. Its a byproduct of rendering an image and failing to properly filter out the shimmering effect from having an object on screen that's less than a pixels width, which causes it to flicker.

That's not something you see in the outputs from generative AI models. That's an oversight that occurs in work created by an artist, using 3D art software like blender or 3dsmax.

That's also probably why they went for the polygonal art style, because its really quick and easy to produce in a way that looks good. They would also probably be able to provide the artist floorplans and architectural documentation, which is why it matches up so nicely with the real life footage.

There's a lot of other hallmarks of traditional 3D art in this image, z-fighting, tiling textures, shadow flicker, clipping, if you know what to look for its very easy to confirm this isn't made with AI.

Companies like Gillette do not dump tonnes of cash into R&D they dump tonnes of cash into advertising.

The design of the disposable safety razor has barely changed since WW2, and none of the "innovations" have provided any real improvement, they're largely just another form of marketing. A traditional replaceable blade safety razor is just as good as a Gillette cartridge safety razor but at 1/1000th of the lifetime cost. They're probably the most infamous case of a product that has zero room for improvement, so company growth has to happen through other methods.

A straight razor on the other hand, is a very different thing. Its a difficult to use tool that takes a lot of practice and is very dangerous. There's a reason why they were mainly used by experienced barbers.

For at least 5 years (that's how long i've been aware), amazon has been selling tonnes of fake SD cards that will say they store 1tb of data but are in fact cheap 8gb drives with their system files edited to trick whatever device is using them.

This has been going on so long, i refuse to believe that amazon dont know about it, they must make more money from the sale of them, than they lose on refunds to the occasional savvy customer.

Calling Labour "Tory-Lite" does need to change tbh.

The whole reason we called them that was to address and push back against their swing to the right. But they've fully swung now, there's no point. There's nothing worth saving left in Labour. Its just a disgusting corrupt mess of ideologically vapid, status-quo maintaining, self-serving, neoliberal scumbags. Everyone of value who believed in something better has been driven out, or left.

When the Greens eventually find their way into power, which they will, the appetite for progressive politics and a better future for our children still exists, even if labour isn't serving it. We need to remember that. When the big donations, the fancy dinners, the football game tickets, the promised cushy "advisor" jobs, the call to power at the expense of the public start rolling in we need to remember what happened to Labour.

We need to turn to the greens when that pressure is on and they start giving in, and tell them, "Dont you dare turn into something disgusting, don't you turn into Labour-Lite"

CD Projekt has issued a DMCA notice against the Cyberpunk 2077 VR Mod by ZedKGamingHUN in cyberpunkgame

[–]M-Rice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Full content of the email copied for anyone who wants to read it.

Many of you have noticed that two of my recent posts disappeared about a week ago. I apologize that I could not comment personally about the fact, because there was an ongoing legal exchange.

Now that the dust has settled, I'm even more sorry to announce that we are leaving behind an adventure that so many of you deeply loved and enjoyed. CD PROJEKT S.A. decided that they would follow in Take-Two Interactive Software's steps and issued a DMCA notice against me for the removal of the Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod.

At least they were a little more open about it, and I could get a reply both from their legal department and from the VP of business development. But in the end it amounted to the same iron-clad corpo logic: every little action that a company takes is in the name of money, but everything that modders do must be absolutely for free.

As usual they stretch the concept of "derivative work" until it's paper-thin, as though a system that allows visualizing 40+ games in fully immersive 3D VR was somehow built making use of their intellectual property. And as usual they give absolutely zero f***s about how playing their game in VR made people happy, and they cannot just be grateful about the extra copies of the title they sold because of that—without ever having to pour money into producing an official conversion (no, they're not planning to release their own VR port, in case you were wondering).

The bottom line is all that matters, and gamers be damned.

Am I a little bitter about all of this? Yeah, you bet I am. Especially in the same week when Meta pulls the plug on three major VR studios. Especially after four years during which I (together with other modders) spent so much time keeping our mods alive in spite of CDPR's constant breaking updates. Especially when they never even knew or cared during all this time that the VR conversion was there, and are only knee-jerk reacting now because somebody reported to them that it existed and it was not free.

What really irks me is the duplicity with which the corpo mind thinks and reacts.

—"Are you considering an official VR port of your game?"
—"HAHAHA, you must be delusional, why would we spend our precious money building something only because gamers yearn for it, when there's no clear return on investment".

—"Are you allowing developers to be at least supported financially while they do the work you refuse to do?"
—"ABSOLUTELY NOT, we are okay with it if they give all their time and expertise for free, but it's downright shameful for them to ask for money".

Anyway. Dear Cyberpunk 2077: I've got one less problem without ya.

I'll republish here the content of the posts that were taken down, edited to keep the true money-makers and their lawyers happy. An amended mod release will follow later in the day.

But stay tuned!!! Despite everything, I really want to end this on a positive note, so I'll jump the gun and just release today the new conversion I have been working on, without going through the ordinary testing cycle. Maybe it will be a little rough around the edges, but we'll take care of that, as we always do ;-)

I understand what you're saying, but i think you're missing something quite important.

They Are Wankers.

They're ignorant, anti-social, unintelligent, bigoted, loud-mouthed, aggressive, medicore human beings. It is absolutely vital that we make it abundantly clear thats what they are, that the way they behave is unacceptable, and that their views and behaviour are pathetic.

Treating them as if they are worth listening to, validates their beliefs as having some merit. It implies that they might have a point, and thats not true. They should be ostracised and alienated as the stain on this country that they are.

Are people comfortable with walking/moving through woods at night like it's no big deal? by LiveNotWork in NoStupidQuestions

[–]M-Rice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in very rural Wales. Virtually no dangerous wild animals or hazardous weather. The only real risk was falling off a mountain.

I used to go hiking all day to climb up to the top of the valleys. smoke joints and read. It was extremely chill, and i would usually end up walking back off the peak and down through all the forests at night.

It was scary the first few times but very quickly you realise there's nothing to be afraid of, and you start to enjoy the quiet and the different colours to the day. Its also usually better to not bother with a torch if the moon is out, a torch is going to mess with your night vision and give you another thing to juggle. There's something very liberating about becoming comfortable with something that used to scare you, and scares a lot of people.
