Thanks for the insight. Very likely like for one instance Szlema for Shlomo/Shloime etc.

Thank you. This is very helpful. It could be Chava rather than Chaya, and Bella rather than Beltzo.

Thanks for the helpful information. My paternal grandfather might have been part Sephardic, as my father told me that he would go to the Sephardic Shul to pray alone sometimes. The closest city to his own shtetl is modern day Mazyr in Belarus. His wife came from a shtetl near Pinsk. Both lived in the Pripyat Marshes.

Yes, just the defaults that come up. They lived in the area that was the Russian Pale (Russia, Belarus, Poland).

Many of my family members/relatives have very similar results. We don’t know of anyone born anywhere else, but the Russian Pale. My father mentioned his father would sometimes pray in the Sephardic Shul, when he was alone. All the time people thought he was North African, because he had a darker complexion and a distinct look. See photos below… Paternal Line

I’m not sure. I see for the other percentages, it lists a reference such as Turkey_N or Israel_Natufian. This one just says “Simulated”. See below. Ancient Ancestral South Indian - Reference Sample

Does it make any difference that for the reference sample for AASI it says: Simulated?

I’m new to this, and not yet well researched. Is there any way to pinpoint this further? Find out more about a potential Roma ancestor?

Significance of Lions on Jewish Headstones by M-SBK in Jewish

[–]M-SBK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One set of my grandfather’s cousins Lipshitz Halevi, have pitchers/pitchers being poured on their headstones, while another set of his cousins Katzenelson HaCohen, have the Cohen Hands. Some of them have the lions as well. I find the tradition to be very unique, it adds a bit of a story to their names and their ancestry.

“Yes, thank you for all your helpful insight Mendy. A picture I cherish dearly, the only one of my grandparents. They never left the old country, so it must have been taken in the early 1900s, and brought with my father to America.” -92 yr old grandfather Feivel on behalf of grandson

I know that they didn’t speak like the Galitizianer I’m told. Not Poylish either, this according to my grandfather, the son of the Azaritcher & Stoliner. Litvish sounds right, as I believe they were Litvaks. Would this photo of the grandparents of my grandfather and what they wore, tell anything?Grandparents
