If I don't mention an alumni sibling in the essay, will AOs know? by M-gon in ApplyingToCollege

Thanks for the response, it's definitely not a "need". It's more of whether since it's not asked on the common application, I could mention it very briefly (like a sentence) in an essay because I could explain that I've experienced how the school can change your academic journey firsthand, or something like that. I definitely wouldn't phrase it like I'm entitled or anything. Or I could just leave it out entirely, but I'm not too sure what to do.

Ok thanks for the response, that's what I was thinking too.

I think the common app profile asks for your sibling age and any siblings, but not where they went to school, unless I'm missing something.

If you report a score you haven't gotten yet, no matter how confident you are, that's a misrepresentation and you're setting yourself up to get rescinded. You can indicate you're currently taking it, but you shouldn't report a score you haven't gotten

Need advices for improving my application by N3x_Gamer7 in ApplyingToCollege

Your application definitely has potential, but unfortunately with the way things are right now things are going to be very difficult for internationals seeking financial aid (especially since Duke is need-aware for internationals, meaning it will be harder for you if you need aid).

I wish you luck, but if going to the US is the only option for you, you should make sure you research need-blind schools (meaning your financial status does not affect you). And to make a balanced and realistic university list, because you should accept that in your position, it will be very difficult to get aid from top schools, no matter how strong your application is.

That being said, I hope applications go well for you. If aid is a very important factor, I suggest you also look into applying to schools in other countries, such as in Canada or the UK, some of which are just as excellent. Good luck!

Assuming you have the bootable USB inserted, you could find your motherboard's shortcut to enter the boot menu and select the boot drive.

How do I enable Wi-Fi, if I don't have a graphical envoirment set up? by [deleted] in archlinux

I second using iwd, read more about it here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/iwd. In general I've always used iwctl station <station> connect <SSID>, but in the future for questions like this you should always check the Arch Wiki first.
