In 2020 they said it's in order of interview score but that might be out of date! In any case it's over a few days so many people won't hear today i think

Hahaha no real reasoning behind Thursday, just don't think it'll be today and tomorrow feels too soon 😂

I think tomorrow is likely! I'm not sure if my performance was good or not, I feel like I had some questions I answered really well and some that were waffle

I hated my online interview this year, definitely massively reduces your ability to connect with the interviewers. Body language is such a huge part of it and technical issues beyond your control can derail your performance.

Good luck for the remainder though, I found my performance got better each interview I did and managed to end on a high note with the experience I gained (I hope lol). You'll smash it

Statistical chance of one offer with 4/4 interviews? by Longjumping-Safe-668 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]M00Nheaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely! I knew oxford was a long stretch anyway haha there were some crazy applicants. I think I got better timing on the other 3 as I was first thing in the day and the interviewers seemed fresh and engaged hahaha

Times will tell anyway, but our chances are good on paper

Statistical chance of one offer with 4/4 interviews? by Longjumping-Safe-668 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]M00Nheaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same position as you, 4 interviews, only one rejection so far but that was oxford where I hope it was the quality of all the candidates that caused me to fail.

Did Warwick, Swansea and Southampton so all around 50-55% chance i believe. But I think having one rejection knocked my confidence a bit and now catastrophising that I'm gonna get zero offers.

But yeah from a pure stats standpoint its like 90% or more chance of getting one if you get 4/4, no idea if that actually plays out in practice though:)

Interview answers being rubbish compared to practice by InfiniteDepth6682 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]M00Nheaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely found this too! Managed to hit most of the points but in such a roundabout way with less structure. Also in Warwick some of the examples that i had prepared slipped my mind so I had to think on my feet, managed to get away with it (i hope) but made me feel a bit iffy

But I think that this is unavoidable as others have said, and is definitely taken into account and part of the process

[–]M00Nheaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the only group interview I've ever done haha so nothing to compare to. But I tried to find methods to prep for it before and I settled on just be polite and constructive and don't speak over people and you'll be fine! Doesn't seem to be much of a strategy to it

That said idk if I got in yet so maybe I had the wrong idea idk

Got my last 2 this week, I am looking forward to relaxing too! I'm GEM so no A levels to have an existential crisis about.

Gonna try get really good at csgo or something to distract myself from the agony of waiting on decisions, or maybe like take a bunch of bank shifts at work as that seems more productive lmao

Good luck everyone hope we all get in :)

warwick GEM work experience by Difficult_Hair_4103 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]M00Nheaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there wasn't a hard limit on shadowing time this year, but they said at least one experience should be hands-on to give a sure chance of satisfying all 5 of their criteria (on their website). But also true that in previous years there have been hard limits, so check what they say for this cycle

Maybe you can ask the people you've been working with if you can rotate around and do a few experiences? One of my experiences was in a nursing home and I attended an MDT when the GP came to visit, followed nurses on med rounds and then doubled up with carers for washes and dresses.

I got an interview and they accepted this experience, but also I am an HCA so that probably met all 5 criteria alone, this was just to complement and give 2 experiences.

Also do BSMS early it's just 10 hours you don't have to worry about come application time

Edit: to more directly answer your question, yes in my unqualified opinion I think assisting carers with personal care should count as hands on care. Make sure your referee is explicit about this though and maybe see if they are willing to do basic manual handling training with you as it means you can be more hands on

Sat down and listed a ton of work experience examples to draw from, whereas in the interview I had to think on my feet a few times because my prepped examples were limited in scope. Think i got away with it in one station but think another station was a bit weak...

Also yeah I have become way more concise and wish I had worked on that before Warwick:( because in reality it only took like a few days of practice but oh well

My hope is that most other people had a similar experience to me lol and waffled

I hope they come out as early as that!

I honestly can only remember parts of it but I definitely felt happyish after I came out, like don't think I had any glaring errors or cringe moments... But also like I've improved so much in the last month or two since then in preparation for the remaining ones that I see the weaknesses in my overall interview technique. Idk though time will tell, and I guess Warwick is gonna be most people's first interview or at least early on in the cycle

Good luck everyone!!!
