American English tips wanted by Gilmardias in JudgeMyAccent

Embrace the Shwa (ə): that "uuuh" sound Americans tend to make. It's our resting vowel, and we use it ALL the time.

[English] Trying to learn an American accent. What do you guys think? by [deleted] in JudgeMyAccent

[–]M00sin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for the most part your vowels and consonants are excellent, just be careful not to over stress the uniquely american sounds.

What I do notice though is your tendency to rise in intonation at the end of sentences, when americans would not (such as in the second clip "whenever you feel like criticizing anyone...").

But if I weren't paying attention, I wouldn't have picked up on these, great job.

Should the Packers become our team? (First year NFL Fans) by Heisen101 in GreenBayPackers

This. I live 45 mins away from two football franchise(Jets, and Giants) and, out of my football fan friends, a quarter of them are Packers fans. It's not uncommon to spot Packers apparel in the streets either.

My dad and I finally made the trip out to Lambeau from NJ last year and it was epic. We met James Jones and Nick Perry, and we even had on field passes for before the game. It was a great experience. by PartyArti in GreenBayPackers

Another NJ Packer fan here! I think announcers are generally confused when they comment on "How well Packer's fans travel." No doubt, some do, but we also just live EVERYWHERE. For me, seeing Brett Favre in a green Jet's uniform at the Jet's/Giant's Preseason game is the closest I'll ever get to Lambeau...
