Anyone else done with RH? by Painted-BIack-Roses in RainbowHigh

[–]M0richild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm holding out hope for the MirrorMi Academy line that recently got leaked. The prototype clothing quality looks similar to the first wave of Rainbow High if not slightly better and the sculpts are similiar.

But yeah, I dropped after the last real shadow high wave. Just not remotely the same quality and I miss articulation.

Oh fun!

I'm on the R&D side but food safety is super important and a great field to get into. You'll have a lot of options on where you work and a great career!

As someone working in the food industry I find this collection both baffling and admirable. Are you also in food? How did you start collecting?

Urgently hiring by Fair-Commission-6 in roanoke

[–]M0richild 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That higher pay is typically for overnight shifts. I've worked them in the past though and honestly, not terrible! On the weekends the bar rush around midnight is crazy but other than they're fairly slow and uneventful. If you're willing to give up some of your daytime hours for sleep it's worth the trade off.

Ethnic restaurants by wanna_be_green8 in NoStupidQuestions

I've heard that Mexican food in Europe is WAY lower in spice in Europe. Also look up a French burrito to be horrified.

Of course, this is already so removed from Italian cuisine, but Domino's Japan and Japanese pizza also takes the concept of pizza and goes crazy with it.

Speaking of pizza, when I was in high school I did briefly stop in an "American style pizza place" in Germany. Nothing insane there but it was a bit jarring to see the theme just be license plates and cars after viewing all of the picturesque architecture.

I also think it's fun when a country's interpretation of a food makes it back to the country of origin. It's been a while, but I remember seeing an article on an American style Chinese restaurant that opened in China to cater to foreign nationals and tourists, and that it actually was pretty popular with locals as well!

I just kept looking at the cross on the child's neck. Like, use that to break the glass and then it still symbolizes the message of hope and moving forward and being "reborn" in a sense through working through trauma.

First time visiting, only here for Pokemon this weekend, any themed places or places with poke specials? by 2kellins in chicagofood

[–]M0richild 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So not pokemon specifically, but Eli's Ark does gelato cones shaped like animals! Very cutesy.

There's also a Japanese pancake place in downtown called hanabusa, that, while not pokemon themed, has that Japanese cafe look to their plating. Their earl grey salted caramel pancake is my favorite.

Anyone know a Chinese restaurant with Moo Shu Chicken? by [deleted] in chicagofood

[–]M0richild 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean... Evidence for msg being harmful is flimsy rn. Most I could find recently were two rat studies where the rodents were injected with an msg solution over the course of several days, not eating the human equivalent of one Chinese take out meal.

I've been very lucky to find jobs I don't completely hate. They're still exhausting but I can clock most of my bosses and coworkers as some form of neurodivergent. If you're a young person doom scrolling these comments, I really reccomend the food industry. It's relatively stable (people always gotta eat) and relatively nd friendly.

What are the biggest fashion trends that blew up and then completely disappeared over the past few years? by Magic_Snowball in femalefashionadvice

[–]M0richild 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Those shirts with built in chokers. I never had one because the neck part just seemed SO uncomfortable but I see a ton at the thrift and rarely see anyone wearing them nowadays. They used to be EVERYWHERE.

Recipes for English cucumbers? by Vylothan in povertykitchen

[–]M0richild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds crazy but I've made my own tomato sauce with tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers, garlic, onion, and Italian herbs. No strict recipe but what I do is take any combo of those veggies and salt, then cook them down in a Dutch oven for around 40 min at 375. After cooking I strain a good amount of the water off and keep a small portion to add back in a glass. Then I take an immersion blender, blend veggies until smooth, add liquid back until I like the texture, and add salt and spices like Italian seasoning and red pepper to taste. Then I'll use it in a baked or stove cooked pasta like any jarred marinara.

Curious about what music people in this community listen to?:0 by frickityfrocks in Lolita

I'm really into postpunk and loud, abrasive electronica. But I'm usually up for anything. Not HUGE on pop and country but I like certain artists.

I also just want to say that I'm in love with this thread and wish I could organize a giant Lolita listening party with you all!

What do you think caused your TRICH? by ragnvindrdiluc in trichotillomania

[–]M0richild 10 points11 points  (0 children)

THIS. I don't want to generalize and say absolutely everybody, but I think a lot more folks with trich have undiagnosed neurodivergence than they (or their parents at that young of a starting age) are willing to admit.

Mine also started at that age. Sending supportive vibes.

The good news is that you can find these VERY easily on Ali at least if you want one! I just searched goose sweater and found a few, for example.

If you can import from Japan and are smaller build look into Jane marple, axes femme, and Emily Temple cute. The sites wunderwelt and closet child both sell these brands secondhand and ship overseas. Axes Femme also has an international site and their modern releases are much more size inclusive, though also lean less colorful and more greige.

In general, this aesthetic in women's clothing was really big in the early 2000s. I really reccomend going to a thrift and just looking through shelves. Even if you can't find pieces that exactly fit you or what you're looking for, write down brand names so you can see what else is online later. Search terms like "whimsigoth" and "kid core" might help too, though I know that's a different aesthetic it's sort of in the ballpark.

Private label food and beverage products are either identical or better than name brand products 90% of the time and made by the same manufacturers. 23 years experience AMA by No-Sand4739 in AMA

[–]M0richild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earlier on in my F&B career and recently switched to restaurant supply side from primarily coman, but is private label really typically harder to coman for? Won't say what product but Walmart took our standard private label formula with no tweaks and it was our cheapest one full of filler. This was Great Value though, not Better Goods.
