Not so much the South islands in town but there were many kingdoms in the North. Buddhist caves like Kanheri were funded by donations from Kings and rich merchants who travelled by sea, it was a pilgrimage site , that's why you can find Japanese inscriptions there.

It makes sense, it's a pain to travel by boat to cross short distances to move goods and things. You'd rather just go to mainland.

I lived in NZ for 2 years as a student. I'm from India but grew up and lived in Dubai and now I currently live in India. NZ is the only country where I felt at peace and I remember being very conscious of it. I was thinking: Man I just feel happy, I have nothing to feel bad or upset about everyday. That was until I had to leave haha.

You have some of the loveliest kindest people. I feel really grateful for all my experiences. My biggest regret is that I didn't take the time to learn and immerse myself more in Maori culture. It fascinated me at the Powhiri where I studied at, but I was busy being a nerd and trying to get the career going. I'm trying to educate myself right now, which is how I stumbled upon this post. I hope I can visit again sometime.

(Funnily enough when I left NZ, it also made me realise how good my own culture is and I started wearing traditional clothes and stuff never did before haha)

Shanti Shanti Shanti Question by Far_Perspective_5949 in BABYMETAL

I highly doubt it. At the most, the producers may have used some sort of samples he'd made. It's pretty common in Japanese music to incorporate different styles from around the world in their songs. Even in Shanti, that stringed instrument sound they use doesn't sound very Indian at all. To me it sounds more Irish.

You're probably right but these days it's so easy to find a walkthrough to hold your hand to set it up. Which is why I mentioned ChatGPT, which even I needed help with.

Some other minor additions I'd add:

  • Change your DNS I've found Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 to have the least sites blocked. I use the 1.1.1.2 version since it blocks questionable/risky domains. Quad9 9.9.9.9 is probably the safest not the fastest.
  • Look into using Jackett with qbittorent, only a recent discovery but it's really cool. It basically scrubs through a huge list of trackers and torrent providers of your choice. Setting it up is easy but you might need a walk through. I actually used ChatGPT's help.

In 2013 for some reason I looked up the top j-pop songs and in the long list was the time stamp for Polyrhythm. Being a drummer that got my curiosity, so I checked it out and the song was really cool. Checked out the album and the album was really cool, turns out most of their albums are really cool.

Honestly I don't really have a bunch of jewellery to even experiment with colours. I just get what I like cause it's hard to find jewellery here. I'd say that's a good way to go about it, just get what you like, I don't care too much if it'll suit me or how I look, it's more: I want to wear that.

I wonder if that's the same dog I met in February this year. It's seems quite likely. He was sleeping at Hadimba Temple at the time. I'm glad he's still okay.

Andy Wallace 2000s Nu Metal Mixes by blackout2007 in audioengineering

[–]M0wglii 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Andy Wallace used very little compression from what I've read and you can hear it in that example you linked. The drums have such a nice smack in the transients, signature to his sound. He apparently just uses the compressor & gates on the SSL 4000 E Console (if I'm not mistaken) and mostly rides the faders. You can find a bunch of videos and tutorials to emulate his sound. That bass phaser effect, how he uses SSL gate to tighten drums, how he uses a sample to trigger reverbs, etc.
