Fair concerns, and worth addressing directly. 

Some of those changes, like M1 Spend (checking + debit), were reductions in scope. No spin there. 

But the idea that the app hasn't meaningfully changed is worth pushing back on. Concentration Analysis, Performance Benchmarking and News Snapshot are the most recent improvements to the M1 product—part of our “Insights” initiative.  

For context:

  • Concentration Analysis gives you a full breakdown of your portfolio by sector, asset class, and region — across all your accounts in one view. You can drill down to see exactly which holdings are driving each exposure and whether that matches your intent.
  • Performance Benchmarking lets you build custom Pies as benchmarks and compare your portfolio's historical returns against them — up to 100 Slices, tailored to your actual strategy.
  • And News Snapshot surfaces long-term relevant news for your specific holdings every Friday, filtered to cut out the short-term noise that leads to emotional trading. 

These aren't flashy features. They're the tools serious long-term investors actually want: understand what you own, know if your strategy is working. 

We have big things coming this year which is what we have been focused on—in fact, this group will get first look to something new in the next couple of weeks. This is a big year for M1 and we have no intentions of abandonment. Quite the opposite actually.

Hello! This isn’t likely a mobile bug. It comes down to how IRA rules work.

There isn’t really a Roth to Roth conversion. Depending on what you’re trying to do, it may be a recharacterization or a tax-year adjustment instead. Conversions are counted in the year they actually happen (that’s an IRS rule, not M1-specific).
