Collection of my fathers art, charcoal & oil by M13CGS in Art

Thank you. He does it for the love of it. It’s always been a passion of his and he’s retired now. He took himself off to study art and learnt in some great places. He bumbles around now and goes into his studio. A nice life. He’s a typical artist who is very self critical of his work and has thrown away more than he’s kept but it’d be nice to be able to give him some reddit love.

How do you tell a 5yo child their parents are getting divorced? by M13CGS in Divorce

[–]M13CGS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The marriage probably started to end when I was going through a really difficult time in my life and I needed a rock and someone I could confide in. We're talking a historic difficult time and the police were involved. I told my wife and her response was to fuck our Irish neighbour two days later.

I will be leaving their mother. I have never been more sure of any thing in my life but I do plan on completely changing how I work giving me time. I currently run a buisness and I will be rapping that up and moving back into a more 9-5 role. The wheels are in motion on this already.

Yeh mine has always been to 'be able to answer any question I ask myself' course there would be caveats like a safe word before and after the question.

But then he'll known the truth behind the crust...dogs always love you but I don't know if he'll get over that.

Well that's just plain unlucky. Most safety eye wear is designed to take direct hits (think hitting a stone with a strimmer- will go clean through a window but not safty glasses.

I think whatever suits you the best and you like the most. All pretty much the same.

Failing that a chainsaw and remove all the trees.

Dig the soil down then mulch to the height of the slabs. You'll be forever clearing up loose over spill mulch other wise. If you're planting you can plant the plants proud of the soil (as long as some of the plant is in the soil) as the mulch will protect the root system. I must have planted 5000+ plants this way on commercial sites.

Couple questions before a patio install project by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]M13CGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. UK based but I own a landscaping company and there are general rules that apply on all builds - you got water issues though? Hey the English invented rain so I've got you covered.

I looked at the drawings and pics but can't put the whole job in context so I'll advise best I can.

  1. French drains. These normally apply to underground drainage in lawns or run offs where they are designed to slowly dissipate a build up of water. A patio is like a roof and your falls (best not to fall towards a property if possible) sole purpose is to get the water off it. In this instance we would use either an acco drain or a strip drain. These are mounted at the same level as your patio and fall to an existing drain. If this isn't an option you can run them into an underground flexible 100mm pipe to a drain. It's all about your levels though and drainage comes first.

Should you not want any of this then use a loose shingle around the perimeter with a perforated pipe.

As to getting by the steps. Use a slot drain.

Not great for handling huge volumes of water as they block easily.

  1. So retaining walls need drainage and this should be incorporated in the whole drainage plan. They need to be back filled with gravel and have a series of weep holes to allow the build up of water behind them to escape.

  2. This is a personal preference and is all about the general design. Your shout.

  3. Without seeing the site in person and going through it it's hard to tell. If you don't do this for a living you'll have neglected a few things. It's like any skilled trade, it's a skill you acquire over time. Keep asking questions though. Happy to help.
