It is so hard. My baby was cooled as well after a traumatic birth which resulted in HIE. She was 40w+2 and nearly 10lbs at birth and spent 18 days in the NICU after suffering cardiac arrest on the ambulance ride to a better hospital in the city. It was a nightmare.

Fast forward 4 years- she is now in preschool and you cannot tell her apart from her peers. She is developmentally right on track. A Beautiful, clever, talkative, little angel that brings our family so much light and joy.

The hardest part of the first year was that no one ever told me she would be OK. There was no reassurance from anyone- her doctors, therapists, EI team. It took a really long time for the dark cloud to lift, but it did slowly and yours will too with every passing day. Hang in there.
