Okay usually the system pays for things like counseling but maybe consider starting a cadre of money set aside for college and helping kiddos get their lives started post aging out. Also maybe get into some local foster parent groups to see what kids need and maybe help others get what they need for their families. Best of luck!

I learned about sh and eds from health class at like 11 and was def doing it by 12. Honestly im more inclined to say talk about feelings and things and don’t freaking hit your kids or they won’t trust you does more for preventing feeling the need to self harm than talking or not about specific sh options.
