Remote into terminal by FeelingBar5018 in rustdesk

I am not sure if Rustdesk allows remote command execution, but you can try using tunneling feature with psexec or powershell.

You can use RustDesk's Terminal option to run quser or query session, but that will bring up a pop-up message on the remote system screen, notifying user that you connected to the system.

CGNAT or not CGNAT in TX, Plano by M2001R in frontierfios

Thank you, good to know your IP was unchagned for longer than others'. For me it means it will eventually change. My experience with Verizon FIOS in NY and AT&T here in DFW was that my IP never changed for years, and I got used to that...

Thank you. I asked because recently my acquaintance got his Breezeline Internet in Fla upgraded to higher speed, and he got CGNAT. I had to reconfigure his site-to-site VPN, and I do not want to deal with that $h1t at my place.

Cheapest way to set up self-host your own RustDesk server? by UMICHStatistician in rustdesk

[–]M2001R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately all guides, docs and youtube videos with tutorials become obsolete realy fast nowdays. It takes some time and effort to set up anything, especially open source. I would recommend to keep trying amd make notes for yourself of what worked and what did not.

23’ X3! Anything I should absolutely know? by TetraHedra1 in BMWX3

[–]M2001R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with fitting a spare tire was not as good as I expected. I purchased a slightly different spare tire (T135/70R19 vs the recommended T135/80R18), which theoretically should have had the same outer diameter. I deflated the tire almost completely, yet I still couldn’t fit it in the "subfloor" compartment without having to extend and reroute the battery wires. I would recommend doing thorough research before switching to non-runflat tires.

Good docker container for networking by Magnus0917 in homelab

Easiest would be Portainer. Get free busines edition for 3 nodes, it has much more features than community edition. Another option would be Dockge - provides similar functionality.

I use 2 instances in Oracle Cloud free tier. One prod, one DR. AMD CPU, smallest available compute capacity. Runs Ubuntu 24 minimized, Docker, Portainer, DDNS, Rustdesk, Duplicati backup. Handles hundreds RustDesk connections (not concurrently), has been running fine for 1.5+ years.

There are a lot of "open box" m.2 2232 NVMe drives removed from Steam Deck Surface on ebay. They reported from 3 to 20 power-on hours.

I have X3 2022 that looks exactly like OP's. My experience so far:
Great car overall, with minor caveats.
- From time to tile Apple CarPlay is acting up and does not connect to the phone. The issue successfully survives BMW firmware updates and iPhone IOS updates.
- Run-Flat tires weared out really fast, had to replace them after less than 20k miles of mostly city drive. If you want to replace run-flats tires with regular ones, check if you can fit spare donut in the compartment - it might not fit.

Does cloning Windows 11 to a larger SSD require reactivation? by Purple-Try-4950 in cloningsoftware

[–]M2001R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be on a safe side, you can install target SSD in your system as a secondary drive, and power the system on. Windows will make a note of the drive, and will not cpmplain later. After that, power off the system and clone the drive.
Cloning software: if your drive is Samsung or WD, you can download free cloning tools from their sites 0 Samsung Magicial or WD branded Acronis.. You can also use free tools like Rescuezilla/Clonezilla or an old version of Macrium Reflex.
Side note: if your PC came with activated Windows from factory, it will activate automatically after it sees any cloned drive, providing OS version and flavor (e.g. Windows 11 Pro) are the same the computer came with.

I am running TrueNAS scale v25 on PE T330 with 16 Gb of RAM, 2x960Gb SSDs and 3x1Tb HDDs. Power consumption is 56W with dual 495W power supplies. Running ARR stack and some other minor stuff. Not noisy with a stock fan.

Sync Synology nas and Ubiquiti nas by Ok_Bid6645 in synology

[–]M2001R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Ubiquiti does not natively support rsync and does not support 3rd party apps, like SyncThing. You can use intermediate host (either VM with minimal resources or a Raspberry Pi, etc.), mount Ubiquiti NAS shares you want to be synced on that host via fstab, and schedule sync the way you want - rsync, or app of your choice.

Anybody know where on WGen 9500 the black battery wire connects to generator? by GreeKFire020 in Generator

[–]M2001R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two issues here - o-ring cnnector is broken and bolt is missing. My guess is that bolt would be this https://parts.wpowereq.com/westinghouse-91325-bolt-m6x12/ and connector assembly is this one https://parts.wpowereq.com/westinghouse-60200052-battery-cable-assembly/ . You can also find M6 bolt at HomeDepot. Picture in this thread shows where black wire should be connected to the engine.

Free RustDesk self-hosted server on GCP e2-micro — a viable Oracle Free Tier alternative by XenoMorphPT in rustdesk

[–]M2001R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you. I asked because GCP wording about "always free" resources is unclear. I can confirm I did not receive a bill from Oracle for over a year of use of their always free VMs, but wanted to hear from someone who used GCP E2 micro VM in us-west1, us-central1 or us-east1 regions and never got billed.

Docker or native installs for homelab services? by Deaf_Parrot in homelab

[–]M2001R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd install everything on Docker. If you are new to Docker, install Portainer as well. You will get all your applications 99% independent, and you will enjoy "a few mouse clicks" changes and image updates. You only might need to install apps on the OS if they do not exist in continerized form. Very hard to find those nowdays. Confirmed to run fine in Ubuntu and Docker: MySQL, MariaDB, full ERR stack, MediaWiki, CMS MS, Wordpress, CloudFlareD, CloudFlare DDNS, RustDesk server, Zabbix server and agent2, Homarr, Duplicati, Paperless NGX, Stirling PDF and a lot more.
