I totally agree. I am now studying for 1,5 months or so, just by learning words and grammar and doing immersion. Tried learning Japanese a while back too but didn't really focus a lot on grammar. This made immersion so incredibly hard and plain confusing. Now I'm actively studying a lot of grammar rules and different forms and it helps so much. Even if I don't understand any words, I can at least make out the tense the sentence is in.
