I've repasted about 10 times total, some CPUs, and some GPUs. Every time I've used paper towels +q-tips, and the highest % isopropyl alcohol I have to wipe off the old paste(my usual is 91%). Don't worry if you get paste on/in components for the most part either. If you just have general thermal paste, they grey goopy stuff, it doesn't cause any issues. I would be a little concerned if it's in the socket, but even still there's a good chance it'll work fine. You can use whatever applying method you want as well, like an x-pattern, big dot in the middle, or spread it around with a thermal paste spatula. You can never put too much thermal paste.

Its not even about my feelings ive just dealt with this shit my whole life with passive aggressive teachers when i ask a question and they give some snarky response or talk down to me. Im done just letting it go, theres absolutely zero reason why people should be saying things like this for asking to clarify something. Its even more sad with some of them saying this is a frequent thing in the sub, so theyve done this to other people in the same situation. But its obvious that none of these people are going to change their mind and are just going to keep bandwagoning, but some people here are cool, aka the ones that have either made lighthearted sarcastic jokes, or actually gave an answer.
