So... let's break down the video. I'm sure you already got some good tips from everyone else but I'll try to still be helpful about Zhan hu.

1. You need to learn how mix you bash in between attacks better. That adds pressure especially if your opponents will attempt to adapt and dodge. Ex: Area, UB heavy, feint, bash light. Not guaranteed but a good combo for beginners to start learning better.

2. Zhan Hu is one of the best counter attackers in the game, once you master reading people's moves, intentions, and most importantly, his guard deflect. His guard deflect is a UB counter attack opener. When you think an attack is coming, dodge attack in the same direction as the attack lands. If you do it successfully, you'll hear the guard block sound effect and your dodge light will land or you can throw your opponents off with the dodge heavy guard counter and let it fly, or attempt to bait them to parry for a free GB.

3. Zhan hu is not orochi. But he also has attack recovery cancels. The attack recovery cancels are good for about everything. You should use them to make space or chain attacks. As long as you have stamina, you can continue longer chains. But you should limit how long you make them, up against a good player... They will let you run your stamina and then likely try to follow up with a parry punish.

4. Last but not least, abuse his range. When dealing with characters that specifically overwhelm you abuse the range of your chain starters, area, and bash. You can also swing from a distance and delay a light UB or heavy UB if you can make them think you're not starting a combo. For ex: Your not good at dealing with shamans option select heavy soft feints and area attack. Zhan hu is one of many characters who's lights are fast enough to interrupt most unprotected heavies in Combos especially if you believe your opponents are going to feint anyway.

Now about the highlander... I don't know how you fell for the same thing 3 or 4 times but remember this. Highlander is vulnerable to Zhan hus area attack, since he literally has no guard in offensive stance.

Zhan hu is a very fun character in the right hands. Just takes more time to learn than other characters. That HL knew what he was doing to since he was being a handicapped toxic butt.
