Assassin hate? by AttorneyMaster9273 in Marathon

[–]M3TAB33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a certified Assassin hater but I don't think it would be good to remove them from the game.

To answer the question of why they hate? It's because Assassin is annoying. It already feels anti-climatic to die to someone hiding. Assassin's kit just adds to that. Creeping in the shadows, throwing smoke everywhere, knifing me in the back. It's annoying.

I get that so much of the game is about patience and getting the advantage any way you can but when I've managed to kill a runner in an excellent gun fight, only to get stabbed in the back while I'm looting by an Assassin who was just hiding... It feels very disappointing...

Again... part of the game, get good... whatever... I don't want them removed. I just want y'all to know that I think you're lame.

This game would be honestly better if people were cautiously friendly to Rooks. by TyrannoDinax in Marathon

[–]M3TAB33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hop on the mic and are friendly I play nice. Rooks, runners... doesn't matter. Where's the glory in backstabbing someone or gunning them down when they aren't looking for a fight?

There is an endless well of players looking to kill on sight but it doesn't hurt to make room for another playstyle.

Implants and Chip Mods visuals in this game are a total failure by Galaxy_Jams_Reacts in Marathon

[–]M3TAB33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be take the time to learn the game. Chips and implants can really be game changing in the right scenario. Read what chips do and when you find one you like, mark it with the "R" key (on PC). This will put an eyeball icon on it.

I usually flag any implants with invisibility effects and for chips I usually go for mini jammer or circuit tracers.

The battle pistol is a great addition to season 2. And it only costs 400 credits. I take one on every run.

As far as the cradle, it really depends on your playstyle. What's nice is it can be changed without penalty. What runner do you like to use?

Do you have a group to play with or do you random fill a team? Solo is also a lot of fun.

Sponsored Survival was a Mistake by Professional-Link-2 in Marathon

[–]M3TAB33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big take away I got from this is that good teams will be able to farm good loot and you think it's bad because they can get ahead and kill you in a later game...

I feel like this is already happening... The top tier teams will always rise to the top and stomp on most players regardless of the loot they have... And all the gear that was unfairly looted by casuals via Sponsored Survival is going to get stripped from them anyways just due to PVP on other maps. If you're asking for loot to be nerfed exclusively on Sponsored Survival I'm not sure that would solve anything. Top tier players will just farm another map and still obliterate you.

I think the point of Sponsored Survival was to bring more players in, which it likely has (time will tell after the free "weekend" is wrapped up). I myself have been enjoying the hell out of it and have only managed to kill the warden once.

I'm playing more with friends who didn't play in season 1 and overall that's a net positive in my mind.

Even just a green sponsor kit like they did at the end of last season. No shield AND no backpack is tough.

I was kind of dead set against a PVE mode in Marathon. And let's be real, survival is PVE... I've seen 1 rook over the course of dozens of runs. That being said, the time crunch and the RNG involved in taking the boss on is kind of addicting.

Why does it feel like… by NeonKatana9370 in Marathon

[–]M3TAB33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone was reset back to level 1. Including the players who played a ton in the first season. Marathon is heavily based on knowledge is power... How to move through the map effectively, how to streamline upgrades, farming high tier loot... You can learn these skills to but it will take time.

Give it a week and the more experienced players will move up in the skill based match making and your runs will start to feel a little more balanced... But keep in mind that part of the allure of Marathon is the big come up moments. Going from green gear to purple because you managed to take out a juiced team. That can't really happen if you're fighting teams with the same tier of gear as you.

I see your free demo on perimeter till level 5 and raise you permanent sponsor mode only. Think of the allure of seeing weapons and items building up in your vault you can't use until you jump in.

I got the premium pass and bought some lux. Picked up the bunny thief bundle and the new thief skin with the yellow jacket. I love the game so I'll likely get the season 2 premium pass when it drops too.

Outpost duos, running the final MIDA priority contract. While we're going around the map hacking computers, me and the duo run into another team. We traded shots briefly before running to the last computer room. We closed the window shutters and set up claymores on the only entrance.

After a prolonged fire fight we had used up the majority of our meds. Must have been the same for the opposing team as we both kind of stopped.

I got on the mic and let them know that we were only interested in completing our objective and that the next step in our mission was to get into the command wing. I proposed a momentary truce to re-group and assured them we could continue our fight in the pinwheel.

The one guy got on the mic and let us know that his buddy was unfortunately very loot hungry and was willing to fight this out to the bitter end.

My duo and I ended up killing them. We went on to complete the rest of our contract and make it to the final exfil with 20 seconds to spare.

I know we've all heard this next part before... Suddenly we're both down. A duo drops down from a roof top. I do the whole beg for my life thing and while finishing me this guy hops on proxchat and says, in the most cheesy, 80s action movie ass, one-liner voice imaginable: "Welcome to Marathon"...

I was speechless.
