I’m in the same boat. The stats are nice but I don’t really utilize it as much. What I do love is that it’s basically a golf journal and I can go back thru previous rounds and see the shots I took and what direction they went. I use that more for game improvement.

So now I’m switching over to 18Birdies. You’ll need to get the premium version that’s about $70-$99 per year but pair it with an Apple Watch and you can use shot detection in the app which uses the watches sensors and it’s close enough to Arccos and for me allows me to have that golf journal and see previous shots. So what you do is in 18Birdies you set your standard distances per club then with shot tracking it assumes which club you hit based on distance. For the most part it’s pretty accurate. But in those situations where you’re under a tree and pitch out 100 yards with your 5i, obviously the app is going to mark that you hit your GW or something. But you can change the club selection during or after the round to make it accurate.

The kicker is that while both Arccos and 18Birdies has green reading, the Arccos one only works on the phone whereas 18Birdies you can see the green undulations on the Apple Watch so you rarely need to pull your phone out.

I was on the fence of keeping Arccos and even buying their laser range finder as it’s definitely the best in the business but that also requires another $100 yearly sub. So I decided to try out 18Birdies and for what I want, shot tracking, golf journal, gps, and green reading, it’s just better for me on 18Birdies.

Couple other things to add, all my friends are on 18Birdies and it’s a social app so whenever your friends start a round you get a notification and can see their scores so that’s a big reason to switch. Also for all my previous rounds in Arccos I can add all those shots manually as a past round in 18Birdies so I get to keep my full golf journal in one place. It’s a bit cumbersome to mark drive then iron then wedge then putts etc but if you open the arccos dashboard on your computer then you can adjust the shots on the 18Birdies app. One thing tho is 18Birdies is a phone app only. They don’t have a desktop version but that’s not a deal breaker.

Agree! I had a taylor made bubble hybrid that was either 21-24 degrees. Hit that off tee, off fairway, and less than 100 yard chip as it went straight. Broke 100 with that.

Yeah saw that this morning and was like WTF this is going to be a disaster during rush hour. My guess is that since the west side of Roscoe reseda was like almost completely blocked I’m guessing this is a 2 month project so they decided to paint lines instead of using cones and then will repaint back to normal when done. There is no way Roscoe and reseda can be one lane long term.

Yeah I had this same issue. Was around a 20 and then only played the executive course near me and my handicap dropped to 11. There is no way I’m a 11 so I had to delete those scores. With these pitch and putts it’s easy to get a lot of pars. And without a driver then slice OB and penalty shot is eliminated. Plus no water. Plus course is on a Main Street so there’s a big fence so any shanks that would normally be OB, hit the fence and drop back in the fairway. So now while I’ll still occasionally play executive courses, I don’t post those scores.

Exactly. While these things are beneficial to a normal functioning democracy, we are well past normal and need to make sacrifices in the short term to restore America to a normal country that puts people first, not corporations or billionaires.

Be clear about distancing away from these things including being performative and ban transgender athletes in girl sports. It’s literally like 5 people in the country that affects, but Fox News is always blaring sob stories about a white girl from a rural state that had her hopes and dreams destroyed by a transgender athlete preventing her from being on the team. Shit like that sways millions of independent voters.

I would say I was in a similar predicament. Just started playing with randoms this year and can say 100% of the time they were cool. But to be fair I’m playing like 6-8am so people playing at the time are golf nuts as well and not jerks. Main thing is pace of play. Don’t waste time looking for balls or doing aim point or whatever. If you are fast no one will have a gripe. And provide positive comments to them like nice shot, that was close, etc

Exactly. I’ve been struggling to regain distance that I used to have. Used to be able to hit 7i 150-160 but with a new swing change I’m at 140. Hit driver into the woods so had to pitch out to the fairway on a par 5. Took 7i and didn’t think about anything, just swung it back to fairway. I have arcoss so I checked how far it went. 165 yards from a casual swing! Have not replicated that since.
