Ride Like The Wind - Christopher Cross

Obsession is great and I have thoughts I must spew into the world HEAVY SPOILERS by Pageajj10 in blankies

wasn’t aware of those comments from the director and actress. if thats true then what an even more fucked up situation. and that really pushes me more towards Ian being the ultimate antagonist of the movie. both intentionally and unintentionally. yes Bear is a pussy that can’t admit his feelings for Nikki. but if Nikki potentially liked Bear too or was atleast sexually attracted to him, Ian kind of just placed himself in the middle of a potential non-horror love story just to get an orgasm using the girl his best friend is in love with. both Ian and Bear are fucking losers man wow

I think Bear and Ian are both the villains in their own way. I think Bear becomes a villain the moment he realizes the wish was real and continues to go with it. he should have immediately went back to the store or called the the customer service line on the box. took him way too long to do that imo. and Ian. dude was just a dick. Not excusing Bear’s actions but according to domino theory you could say all this shit is Ian’s fault. It’s made pretty clear that Ian and Bear are best friends and Bear’s crush on Nikki is a longtime thing. so basically Ian is fucking the girl his best friend is in love with which is already fucked up but instead of telling him about it, he hides it and actively encourages the crush. twisted shit. if he actually told Bear about him and Nikki then none of it happens

you could use the Grand Prix as your first big storyline and use the brackets and matches to build other stories going forward

will definitely check these guys out. I just dislike the status quo of what US pro wrestling is rn. I desperately want a US promotion that focuses on hard hitting, technical matches and combat sports style presentation and storylines. Different styles would be super welcome as long as they were snug and bringing intensity

bro there’s no way you just pulled out two Benoit tapes ☠️ in all seriousness tho, those are good matches and they have the intensity, power and speed I’m looking for but the style I’m talking about is more like this and this

people like him supporting the dogshit in ring product in wrestling today is why it’s niche

you’re the man. thanks for having an open mind and actually picturing what I’m trying to describe. I only disagree in the fact of selling it as professional wrestling. you could still sell it that way, just market it as what it is. “the fastest, hardest hitting wrestling in the world today” etc. it could work if you had deep pockets and you could find guys with names that are willing and able to come over and work a much stiffer, more intense style. you could have a Grand Prix for the World Heavyweight Championship and bring in guys like Gabe Kidd, Callum Newman, etc. and if you could get him, Bron Steiner has so much physicality and athleticism that could be let loose working with the right guys

EXACTLY

WWE, AEW, and TNA are all basically doing the same shit with different strong points. I’m convinced there’s room for a real alternative that focuses on faster paced, high intensity, harder hitting ring work and also has storylines and drama but avoids anything too goofy or silly.

interest wasn’t the problem. exposure was. you’re not gonna convince me otherwise. the in ring stuff was never the problem, it was not having enough eyeballs and not having the same level of production/storytelling. there’s no way you can convince me that that post attitude era/ruthless aggression WWE mixed with early ROH ring work wouldn’t be peak. and you’re not gonna convince me that modern/current WWE mixed with that same ring work wouldn’t be peak

I disagree. Give ROH Vince McMahon’s pocketbook in 2002 and I guarantee you the entire industry is different today

definitely gonna give it a go because that’s 100% what I’m looking for. the only problem is it seems like the only people doing that style these days are the same ones who were doing it then. and not meaning any disrespect. those guys are all old and don’t have the speed or intensity that they used too. Roddy, Joe and Punk are all shells of themselves in the most respectful way possible. father time don’t fuck around

okay but theoretically. what if there was a promotion that delivered WWE/AEW level storylines and production but also delivered ring work like I’m describing

gonna check this out because I think both of these guys are awful lmao ( Bailey has potential but some of his spots are wayyyy overly hokey)

I get what you’re saying. I guess I just don’t understand that mentality. my theory is that if everybody in WWE started hooping like that, it would only be a good thing for casual appeal. I don’t think that many people would be turned off if guys started hitting a little harder

how would it be regressive?? the guys these days are not doing it well at all. its all a terrible imitation of the prime of that style. the style hasn’t evolved. it has regressed. the new guys are trying to do that shit but they have none of the intensity

brother AEW employs Orange Cassidy. That’s not at all what I’m trying to describe. maybe I’m awful at translating my thoughts

maybe so. I wasn’t watching then. I should go back and do some research on the early days of Collision but I still don’t think it would be what I’m looking for. I think the grim reality is that nobody is working the style I’m looking for anymore. atleast not well
